Undici racconti noir che raccontano di una Puglia diversa, non di quella regione che ha saputo caparbiamente (ri)costruirsi l'immagine, passando in un paio di lustri da vetusto serbatoio di povertà ed emigrazione a mirabolante diapason delle nuove correnti creative musicali, cinematografiche e letterarie, ma quella che serba ancora, al suo interno, uno zoccolo duro di sfacelo, qualcosa che l'onda della recente attenzione mediatica preferisce celare, tenere a bada, confinare in qualche recondito meandro cui solo il pungolo di un'arte priva di scrupoli può permettersi di risvegliare. In mezzo allo sfolgorio accecante di un sole unico e al ritmo cadenzato dei tamburelli della taranta, voci di dissenso si sono coraggiosamente messe a raccontare, ricordando a chi credeva che quest'angolo remoto di Sud fosse bonificato dalla mafia, dalla corruttela, dall'abusivismo e dalla malasanità, che quaggiù, oltre al sapore dei taralli e alle note della pizzica, pulsa (purtroppo) ancora un cuore nero come la pece.
