With 21 superb full-page engraved illustrations by Albert DECARIS in the main volume and in the second volume a supplementary issue of 2 copies each of the same plates together with a special printing of the engravings with 'remarques' making a total of 84 plates in all. The wood engravings in Decaris' inimitable style are mainly representations of unclothed females in a variety of rural and group settings! The work is enhanced with many fine illuminated capitals these also reproduced as part of the supplementary 'suites' in volume 2 - totalling a further 17 individual plates. The original copper plate and wood engraving called for in the colophon are not present. Presented in 2 quarter brown morocco patterned card folders and matching slipcases. FINE condition.
