"With unmatched interest and concern, our 11th Abdullah Gül, who was elected on Augusth 28th, 2007, and his wife Hayrünnisa Gül initiated the restoration and renovation of many Presidential buildings in the (Çankaya and Tarabya premises. In this context, the furnishings of the renovated buildings were replaced, and all artworks within the Presidential collection examined, with a significant number of new works added. Many innovations were made to preserve, transport, and display the works in the Presidential art collection in conditions that meet world standards. The whole collection was digitized, making it easy and safe to control and track the artworks with the help of optical reader systems. The Presidential Office undertook a pioneering role in preserving for future generations our art heritage which had been neglected for years. In another pioneering attempt by the Presidential Office, the valuable works in the collection in need of conservation and preservation were restored in the context of a project executed with the collaboration of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts. Permanent channels of interaction were established between the partners that took part in the process, aiming to make the results and outcome of the project available for other institutions to benefit from. With the personal involvement and supervision of Hayrünnisa Gül, a detailed classification and evaluation of the collection was made, its pros and cons determined. All artworks in the collection possessing historical or artistic value have been conserved and restored. When making new acquisitions, priority was given to those artists whose works were not already featured in the collection. In this context, an attempt at completing the missing pieces.".‎

‎Manolo Valdés: Paintings and sculptures.= Resimler ve heykeller. 7 Mayis / May - 21 Temmuz / July 2013. [Exhibition catalogue]. Edited by Begüm Akkoyunlu Ersöz, Tania Bahar.‎

‎New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (29 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 161 p., color ills. "A leading figure of Spanish Pop Art, Manolo Valdés will be at Pera Museum between 8 May and 21 July 2013 with a selection of works that extend from the 1980s to the present. Organized in collaboration of Marlborough Gallery New York, the exhibition is comprised of a selection of the artist's paintings and sculptures. Renowned particularly for the diversity of his media, his large-scale works, and quests in form, Valdés is hailed as one of the great masters of contemporary Spanish art. Following the dissolution of Equipo Crónica, the pioneering group of Pop art in Spain, which he cofounded, Valdés continued his career solo as of 1982. His works derive their strength from the masterpieces of the past, bear historic clues, colors, and textures, and make strong references to art history, carrying traces that extend from Velázquez to Zurbarán, and from Matisse to Picasso and Lichtenstein. Stripping a painting from its original context and reinterpreting it through pop art, the artist primarily focuses on figures, objects, and series.".‎

‎PABLO PICASSO.‎

‎Picasso: Engravings and ceramics from the house of his birth.= Dogdugu evden gravürler ve seramikler. Curated by Maria Virgilio Montanez Arroyo. Edited by Begüm Akkoyunlu Ersöz, Tania Bahar. 4 Subat - 20 Nisan, 2014. [Exhibition catalogue].‎

‎New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (29 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 126 p., color and b/w ills. 'I was born of a father of white and of a small glass of Andalusian water of life, I was born of a mother the daughter of a fifteen year-old daughter born in Málaga in Los Percheles the beautiful bull who engendered me his forehead wreathed in jasmine.' Pablo Ruíz Picasso, born in Málaga in 1881, in a house facing the Merced Square in the heart of a city that already had 2500 years of history, comes with the memories of a house full of sisters and aunts, with doves fluttering around the square where he played as a small child, and the smell of paint in the walls. The selection, curated by Mario Virgilio Montañez Arroyo, offering us examples of the stylistic transitions of an artist who has made his mark on visual formats ever since the last century, is a reflection of his world; his constant and never-ending search. Engravings from the Picasso Foundation, Birthplace Museum's Collection are exhibited to create a full panorama of the models, techniques, and styles of the artist between 1923 and 1969, half a century of changing creation during which he combines and switches between Classicism, Cubism, and Surrealism. Traditional themes are questioned in six sections, which reflect and bear witness to Picasso's incessant search, his defence of the freedom and independence of the artist, which made him the 20th century's greatest artist. Engravings and ceramics, extending from realistic depictions of certain subjects to their Cubist and Surrealist interpretations, are accompanied by his personal elements of Picasso's belongings when he was a child.".‎

‎Ahmet Günestekin. Antique moderne.= Antik modern. Translated by Ayperi Okur.‎

‎New English Ahmet Günestekin. Antik modern = Antique Moderne., text by: Gülseli Inal; translator: Ayperi Okur, Ist., 2007. Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (29 x 23 cm). 212 p. Color ills. In Turkish and English. 1250 copies were printed. "Ahmet Günestekin (born December 22, 1966 in Batman, Turkey) is a Turkish painter. He was born in the workers' camp at Garzan oil field in Batman, where his father was employed. He was the second youngest child of a seven children family. His passion for painting has been with him ever since his childhood. He was awarded his first prize in third grade when he was nine years old. His acquaintanceship with oil colors occurred at the same time, and in addition to this, his interest in literature appeared at this young age. Since that time, the artist has kept on working permanently. When he reached his high school years, he staged his first personal exhibition in the gallery at his school. Shortly after his graduation, he went on to study in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. After a while he dropped out of this programme, but later went on to complete his graduate studies at the Anadolu University's Department of Management. For a period, he went into business, but soon returned to painting. In 1997, Günestekin established his first studio in Beyoglu and from there staged numerous personal and cooperative exhibitions. In the wake of his exhibition ¿Colors After Darkness¿, which he opened in 2003 iat Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), he gradually began to release his name into the world of art. Through a great number of personal exhibitions, Günestekin¿s works of art now take their place in prestigious domestic and foreign collections. Ahmet Günestekin, whose signature of his great achievements is his distinctive language, has also attained great success in the design field. His art: Antique Modern While it exists as a definite and specific feature in modern art expression, form in post-modern times is observed and experienced as fragmented and imperceptible through a detached yet consecutive visual experience. Modern means: integrity, continuity, order, nature, form and, most importantly, simplicity. Post modern, on the other hand, is about pieces, disarray, detachedness, context, complexity and, most importantly, essence and ethnic culture. While modernism offers a unifying closed-circuit form mechanism, what is dominant in the art expression of the post-modern era is anti-form and a fragmented structure. (We designate the post-modern era as gaining clarity by 1990). The principles in a modern work of art can be listed as goal, distance, sovereignty, depiction of existence, metaphor, depth, interpretation, the designated, main code, narration, paranoia, the origin, metaphysics, and transcendence. What comes to the fore in the post-modern era, conversely, are characteristics like game, anarchy, process, puzzle, anti-thesis, nonexistence, disintegration, personal language (idiolect), irony, ambiguity, and immanence. From this perspective, Ahmet Günestekin's art expression bridges both the modern and post-modern approaches; whilst it harbors the modern characteristics and displays some features of the modern, and displays some features of the modern in terms of the space he reflects, it also offers a refuge for antique characteristics in terms of its themes. In actuality, Ahmet Günestekin, as an artist fascinated by the antique worlds, stands contrary to Modernism. However, the integrity and unity he reflects on the canvass are the principles of the modern work of art and they greet us as the most important principles that the artist gives the utmost importance to in composing his work. On the other hand, Ahmet Günestekin, who displays a completely post-modern attitude, also crosshatches the archetypes of the antique worlds, and transforms the ruptures of time - anachronisms - by greeting time perception, thereby transforming."‎
