The following year Dalton joined British Museum in the department of British and medieval antiquities .Dalton's initial focus in ethnology migrated to archaeology and he set about writing catalogs on the collections.During World War I Dalton worked for the Admiralty in the map making division until he was struck by and car and seriously injured.Dalton moved to a cottage in the Quantocks in 1940. Oppure giù, verso i Caraibi, verso il suono, a bordo di uno dei velivoli folli e gioiosi della Cubana de Aviación: e L'Avana si apre come una scatola musicale, come una conchiglia antica... Sfodera perle, Lemebel: le sue lettere d'amore si arrampicano in cielo, sono come una danza di parole che illumina una giornata arrugginita. Rammenda orrende cicatrici: evoca l'orrore ruvido della dittatura, lasciata da poco alle spalle e sempre dietro l'angolo. brossura Pubblicato per la prima volta in Cile nel 1998, "Di perle e cicatrici" raccoglie 70 cronache che Pedro Lemebel, scrittore e artista cileno, personaggio iconico della critica sociale post dittatura, compilò per il programma radiofonico "Cancionero" di Radio Tierra. Nel loro insieme rappresentano un dissacrante bestiario di chi, vittima, complice o carnefice, ha popolato le strade e l'immaginario cileno nei primi anni di transizione verso la nuova apparente democrazia. br. Nel 1986 Pedro Lemebel è ancora Pedro Mardones, un acuto ma anonimo professore di storia dell'arte che non ha ancora adottato il cognome materno con cui diventerà famoso in tutto il mondo. Frequenta il laboratorio di scrittura di Pía Barros e pubblica i suoi primi racconti in un'edizione da 300 esemplari illustrati e stampati su semplice carta kraft, un libro-oggetto che vende lungo le strade del barrio Bellavista di Santiago. "Irraccontabili" riunisce i primi racconti di Pedro Lemebel, gli unici che scriverà nella sua vita: è una raccolta di storie e personaggi indicibili, soprattutto in quegli anni di dittatura, paura e censura - vi appaiono preti libidinosi, militari arroganti, madri guerriere, Babbi Natali pedofili - e contiene già il germe di quella che sarà l'intera produzione letteraria di Lemebel, la tenerezza, la violenza, il lirismo e l'ironia della sua scrittura ma soprattutto la dimensione politica e di denuncia sociale che lo definiranno come autore e artista.
