Paris, s.d. (1860 ca.) (Cm. 67 x 96), cartella mod. in mz. tela con ang. contenente una delle più famose piante di Parigi, nota come le Plan de Turgot. E' una pianta della città - a volo d'uccello - di eccezionale formato (m. 3,2 x 2,6), suddivisa in 20 fogli, inc. in rame e numerati (ciascun foglio misura cm. 66 x 91 - l'incisione al vivo è di cm. 52 x 81 ca.) + 1 tavola con l'intera area (inc. al tratto) che serve da Indice (sovente mancante).Di tutte le rappresentazioni cartografiche di Parigi questa, realizzata per ordine di Michel Etienne Turgot (1690-1751), capo della municipalità parigina, per la glorificazione della capitale, è la più seducente. L'artista-topografo Louis Bretez - che la disegnò dal 1734 al 1739 - non redasse una pianta ma una veduta prospettica che ci consente di attraversare con gli occhi i monumenti, le case, gli hotels, le piazze, i giardini, i boulevard, i sobborghi, le chiese, i castelli e avere della città una immagine parlante. Parigi nei primi decenni del Settecento non possedeva ancora vedute prospettiche che potessero confrontarsi con le vedute urbane realizzate a Venezia, Roma e Napoli tra Cinque e Seicento. Parigi giunse in ritardo al suo "ritratto di città", ma recuperò splendidamente il terreno. La ns. pianta è stata stampata nel XIX secolo, usando i rami originali del Settecento, su carta pesante e di grande qualità.Nel ns. esemplare 13 tavole sono state più o meno rinforzate al verso; 1 tav. è stata restaurata all'angolo infer. per mancanza che ha intaccato di ca. 3 cm. anche l'incisione; i margini bianchi portano lievi arross. ma complessivamente è ben conservato.
