Il mio pezzettino, la mia gocciolina, è provare a raccontare la guerra per quello che è: merda, sangue, morte e dolore.» Mentre l'Ucraina brucia, Nico Piro, inviato di guerra per il Tg3, ragiona e scrive in queste pagine, con penna affilata, della vendita del "prodotto-guerra" da parte dei politici e del loro apparato mediatico, disperatamente impegnati a piazzare il conflitto a un'opinione pubblica che non ne vuole sapere nulla ed è schierata - lo dicono i sondaggi - con la pace. Di fronte alla violenza verbale degli opinionisti con l'elmetto, al sorgere di un pensiero unico bellicista, lo scopo di questo pamphlet è smontare la narrazione della guerra che ci stanno spacciando come male necessario dall'alto valore morale.

Barbarie rossa. A Burriana, sul fronte di Castellon, un padre si era recato a chiedere ai miliziani la restituzione di suo figlio tenuto in ostaggio. I soldati rossi promisero di accontentarlo, ma glielo portarono davanti cadavere: l'avevano allora allora ucciso. Quindi obbligavano il povero padre ad accompagnarli al cimitero per dare sepoltura alla salma; ma a metà strada, eccoli gettare il morto a terra e scaricare le armi sul vecchio che si era inginocchiato piangente davanti alle care spoglie.

Battaglia in Francia tra donne rosse spagnole. Un campo di rifugiati rossi spagnoli presso Saint Brieuc è stato recentemente teatro d'una scena di rara violenza. Due donne venivano a lite, ma ecco altre rifugiate partecipare al battibecco: ne nasceva così una mischia generale a colpi di bastone, di coltello, di forbici e d'altre armi. Vari feriti, naturalmente: anzi, una donna usciva dalla mischia con un occhio di meno, asportatole nettamente da un terribile colpo di grossa forbice.

Durante la recente battaglia sull'Ebro, le avanguardie franchiste, davanti alla testa di ponte di Fayon, scorgevano un gruppo di miliziani che avanzava verso di loro. Le avanguardie stavano per far fuoco quando s'accorgevano che uno di quegli uomini agitava le braccia in segno di resa. Pochi istanti dopo, costoro erano accolti nelle linee nazionali: si trattava di quaranta feriti, quasi tutti d'aspetto fine, che non volevano più saperne delle file rosse dove erano stati arruolati per forza.

Alcuni autocarri che trasportavano farina a Mosca sono stati presi d'assalto da una turba d'affamati, ma le guardie rosse di scorta hanno fatto fuoco contro di essi, uccidendone una ventina e ferendone molti altri.
