Durante la recente battaglia sull'Ebro, le avanguardie franchiste, davanti alla testa di ponte di Fayon, scorgevano un gruppo di miliziani che avanzava verso di loro. Le avanguardie stavano per far fuoco quando s'accorgevano che uno di quegli uomini agitava le braccia in segno di resa. Pochi istanti dopo, costoro erano accolti nelle linee nazionali: si trattava di quaranta feriti, quasi tutti d'aspetto fine, che non volevano più saperne delle file rosse dove erano stati arruolati per forza.

Five broadsides printed in color. 30-1/4" x 21" <br/><br/>These posters were said to bring the viewer closer to God. The images progress much like a graphic novel beginning with two figures at the edge of a cliff on the other side is paradise and at the bottom of the divide is a pit of flames. The male figure tries to build a wooden bridge but it fails and falls into the pit. After he glimpses a heavenly vision of the baby Jesus a red cross springs from the flames to bridge the divide into Paradise. Viewed in sequence they evoke a striking allegory for reaching paradise by accepting Christ into your heart. Christian Witness Press unknown

Seven broadsides printed in color. 30-1/4" x 21" <br/><br/>These posters were said to bring the viewer closer to God especially when viewed in sequence. Five of the posters depict a man's face with a different countanence affected by the large heart beneath him. "This wordless poster series builds entirely on symbols to communicate its message about human need struggle and salvation. The likely venue for use of the poster was in small church or evangelism meetings or on street corners. These and similar posters were used to explain the need for salvation Christian discipleship and sanctification" per Wheaton College bulletin 1610. The animals are likely representative of the seven deadly sins the book symbolizes the Bible the dove is the Holy Spirit the cross is Christ's sacrifice for mankind the six-pointed star representing God's Law. The placement of these symbolic images in or out of the heart in conjuction with the two posters that depict the death of a Christian vs. a non-Christian make for a highly affective and eye catching allegorical puzzle. Four broadsides printed in color. 30-1/4" x 21" <br/><br/>These posters were said to bring the viewer closer to God. The images progress much like a graphic novel beginning with a figure running from a tiger along a cliff's edge his face contorted in horror he takes hold of a vine to lower himself from the cliff only to find an alligator with open jaws waiting at the bottom. When he tries to backtrack there is one black rat and one white rat crouched at the top of the vine. The final scene depicts the tiger and alligator turning away as the figure reaches for a glowing red cross on the cliffs edge just out of reach his face calm. Viewed in sequence they evoke a striking allegory the rats possibly signify a retreat from the literal jaws of sin through deceit the sinner turns from the rats at the last minute toward Christ his fate is unknown but his countenance suggests a peaceful resolve. An extraordinary and nearly complete collection of the earliest alphabets of exotic languages printed and published by the Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fide sometimes together with one or more short liturgical texts. In many cases the Alphabetum is the first publication to use the newly cut type and in some cases the type was the first or virtually the first ever cut for that kind of script. Together they show alphabets printed from types for Greek Hebrew meruba & rabbinical Arabic Syriac serto estrangela and East Syriac Samaritan Georgian Armenian Ethiopic Coptic Devanagari Burmese and Etruscan. The Vatican established the Propaganda Fide in 1622 to promote Catholic missionary work especially in the Middle and Near East and it set up its own printing office in Rome in 1626. The printing office acquired the largest collection of exotic printing types in the world most of them exclusive to their press. In 1629 they began printing and publishing these small booklets displaying alphabets for exotic languages.Ad 1 with 2 blank pieces of the title-page excised and patched from the back and some pages of ad 11 misbound.
