‎"Die Frage des Arbeitsdienstes rückt mit jedem Tag mehr in das öffentliche Interesse. Parteien und weltanschauliche Gruppen, die vor kurzem noch jede Art von Arbeitsdienst bekämpft haben, bekennen sich heute schon zum freiwilligen Arbeitsdienst und stehen nur noch der Arbeitsdienstpflicht ablehnend gegenüber. [..] Dagegen fordern grosse deutsche Parteien die Einführung der Arbeitsdienstpflicht. Sie ist ein Programmpunkt der NSDAP, und es ist durchaus möglich, dass ein Gesetz über Arbeitsdienstpflicht in kurzem eine parlamentarische Mehrheit findet. Es ist deshalb der Zweck dieser Schrift, zuerst die Aufgaben eines Deutschen Arbeitsdienstes herauszuarbeiten. Der Verfasser ist dazu um so mehr in der Lage, als er sich als Fachbearbeiter der NSDAP seit einem Jahr ausschliesslich mit den Fragen des Arbeitsdienstes beschäftigt hat." (p. In dieser Zeit wurde Adolf Hitler, Reichskanzler und was bisher eine Konstruktion in die Zukunft war, Wirklichkeit. [sic] Das Jahr 1933 ist das Jahr des Aufbaus der Arbeitsdienstpflicht. Es geschieht auf der Grundlage der Freiwilligkeit. Aber aus den Freikorps der Arbeit wird das formierte 'Heer der Arbeit'. Aufbauplan ist das vorliegende Buch." (p. April 1933). -- Der Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) ist die "mit Gesetz vom 26. 6. 1935 eingeführte allgemeine Dienstpflicht von männlichen Arbeitskräften im Alter von 18-25 Jahren in geschlossenen Einheiten zur Bewältigung gemeinnütziger Aufgaben." (Zentner/Bedürftig Hsg., Das grosse Lexikon des Dritten Reiches, 1985, p. 472, mit relativ ausführlichem Artikel zu Geschichte und Organisation des RAD). - Die zeitgenössische, parteiabhängige Chronik notiert diese Vorgänge des Jahres 1935, die ihren Anfang bereits im Mai 1933 mit der Auflösung der Gewerkschaften und der Gründung der 'Deutschen Arbeitsfront' nahmen und seither konsequent weiter verfolgt wurden : 15. April 1934: "Nach der Auflösung des 'Reichsverbandes deutscher Arbeitsdienstvereine' wird der 'Nationalsozialistische Arbeitsdienst' (unter Reichsarbeitsführer [..] Oberst a.D. Hierl) eine Organisation der NSDAP und weiter dann eine staatliche Organisation. [..] 26. Juni [1935]: Einführung der Reichsarbeitsdienstpflicht (ab 1. Beziehungsweise: Die "Deutsche Arbeitsfront umfasst alle schaffenden Menschen: Arbeitnehmer und Unternehmer, Angestellte und Gewerbetreibende, rund 18 Millionen Werktätige. [..] Kraft durch Freude. Freizeitgestaltung. [..] Gesetz zur Ordnung der nationalen Arbeit (20. Jan. 1934). An Stelle des Gegensatzes Arbeitgeber-Arbeitnehmer tritt Gemeinschaft von Führer und Gefolgschaft. [..] Reichsarbeitsdienst [RAD]. Neben der Gemeinschaft aller Volksschichten der Partei und ihren Gliederungen Erziehung des gesamten Volkes zur Gemeinschaft im Reichsarbeitsdienst, ursprünglich freiwillig, seit 1935 Pflicht. Helmut Stellrecht (Wangen im Allgäu 1898-1987 Bad Boll), Maschineningenieur, nationalsozialistischer Politiker und Propagandist, Parteimitglied seit 1931. Nach seiner Tätigkeit im Reichsarbeitsministerium wurde er 1934 "Obergebietsführer im Stab der Reichsjugendführung, damit wesentlich für die politische 'Schulung' der Hitlerjugend verantwortlich. Stellrecht wurde leitender Mitarbeiter beim sogenannten Amt Rosenberg. 1939 wurde er Brigadeführer der SS. 1945 gehörte er der Regierung Dönitz an. [..] Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg veröffentlichte er unter seinem Pseudonym 'Hermann Noelle' populärwissenschaftliche Schriften, unter anderem über Langobarden und Kelten [Anm.: z.B. Everything in the book, beginning with the cover image, speaks of the triumph of Soviet Industry. The cover ... with an aluminium bas-relief carries the title of the book and Anatoly Skurikhin's 1930 photograph "The Builders of Kuznetsk: the maschine-operator Maria Rogova and the furnace-man Fiodor Popov". The shape of the relief - a rounded metal frame with rivets - resambles an aircraft window or a car door... The book is made up of seven brochures, each of which is devoted to a separate theme. The cover sheet of each gathering is designed with a bas-relief, printig in silver and bronze ink and the title in red. ... Some of the pages are separate signatures - vertical and horizontal pages (with an area of half or a third of the usual page), fold-outs and book-lets. The result is a cornucopia of graphic design and photomontage, arguably the high point both of Lissitzky's book-designing career and the Soviet propaganda photobook, rivalled, but certainly not surpassed by Moskva Rekonstruirruetsya (Moscow Under Reconstruction, 1938) by Alexander Rodchenko and Varvara Stepanova. It is the couple's most cinematic photobook, the result of their theoretical discussions on the techniques of montage with the film-maker Dziga Vertov. In no other book is the imagery quite so brilliantly piled up, one picture upon the other, the ideas constantly inventive and dazzling ... ‎Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original very attractive chromo-lithograph print of Soviet Tatarstan emblem. 24x17 cm. Bilingual in Tatar and Ottoman script. Eight paper-tapes on the extremities of paper. "Sekil 20" [i.e. Figure 20] written. It shows a peasant holding a sickle and a worker holding a pickaxe have joined their hands. The sun rises out of a wreath knitted with spikes and an arrow is drawn with a bow. Inside the wreath, "Tatar Sûrâlar Cumhuriyeti" is written in Arabic letters. In the lower part, hammer and sickle symbols stand out. Info about this emblem and its artist, and from which source it's taken couldn't be found. Litho.‎

‎56 articles which appeared in the Vancouver, B.C. press from February 8, 1941 through February 28, 1942. The articles were commissioned by Colonel H.S. Tobin, Managing Director of Vancouver Breweries Limited and appeared in the Vancouver media. Given the dire situation faced by Britain, the directors of the brewery felt it best to set aside the greater portion of its advertising appropriation for patriotic, rather than regular business purposes and these articles were the result. Due to their popularity, they were reprinted in book form. Prior owner's name upon title page. Somewhat above-average external wear to pale green cardcovers which bear a two-inch opening between spine and top of back cover. A worthy copy of this fascinating look back to the early 1940s. Uncommon pamphlet of the declaration that "The PRG is not a government in South Vietnam"  in the last years of the Vietnam War (1954-1975), consisting of three parts, published one year after the PRG was separated from both South Vietnam and North Vietnam by the 1973 Paris Peace Treaty as an independent entity was signed, and one year ago it became the nominal government of South Vietnam as the Republic of South Vietnam following the Fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975.   The Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam (Vietnamese: Chinh phu Cach m?ng Lam thôi Công hôa Miên Nam Viêt Nam), was formed on June 8, 1969, by North Vietnam as a purportedly independent shadow government that opposed the government of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) under President Nguyên Vân Thiêu and then as a country after the Fall of Saigon with the name Republic of South Vietnam from 30 April 1975 to 2 July 1976. "[.] Therefore, out of an abiding respect for truth, and in order to prevent misunderstandings that could be harmful to relations between countries, the Government of the Republic of Viet-Nam deems it necessary to set the record straight, and to show conclusively that the self-proclaimed "Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Viet-Nam" cannot legitimately be considered a real government."
