J Lanette O'Neal Faulk and Billy Walker James
History of Twiggs County
Jeffersonville Georgia: Daughters of the American Revolution Major General John Twiggs Chapter 1960. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. VG/G/1st ed. A sturdy clean first edition with an unusual dust jacket. This dust jacket is blank paper with several small nicks around the top of the jacket a small tear around the bottom back corner a few small stains and nicks at the two top corners. I have no idea if this is an orignal part of the book or if added by the previous owners but it did keep the cloth over boards in excellent shape and with close to perfect color. There are several names written on the front free endpaper and one on the pastedown all from the previous family that owned this book. All endpapers have a small amount of foxing near hinges and there is a very few small spots of foxing scattered throughout the book. Slightly darkened page edges. All that said the binding is tight corners sharp no breaks to cloth no marking or writing to white slick high quality paper pages. 4 shirt lines of writing on one rear free endpapers. Not a collectible copy but a superior working copy. Jacket now covered with a mylar sleeve. 479pp. many b&w photos information on Twigg County's contribution to the Confederate Armyconsiderable history of county government school histories cemeteries listed tax information families listed. Comes to you in an acid free document bag mailed boxed and I can have it in the mail tomorrow.

Daughters of the American Revolution (Major General John Twiggs Chapter) hardcover

Jackie Robinson (in)
Campus Junior College Annual of Pasadena City College 1939 with Jackie Robinson Featured Prominently
Pasadena: Pasadena City College 1939. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine. 11 5/8" Tall. Photographs Throughout. 271 pp. The last junior college annual of Jackie Robinson with his half-length photographic portrait on Varsity football team. The description of Varsity football begins: "Pasadena Junior College's greatest football team sparked by its greatest individual athlete Jack Robinson. That's what critics were saying of Coach Tom Mallory's 1938 gridiron juggernaut after the Bulldogs won 11 straight games scoring 369 points. Unanimous choice as most valuable player Robinson's contribution was 131 points and over 1000 yards from scrimmage." In the game against Santa Ana " Jack Robinson's 83-yard gallop with Larry Monroy's punt was the climax of the wild-scoring game. four touchdowns plus Jack Robinson's field goal and four conversions were too much for Santa Ana" which lost 31-19." Against San Bernardino Two men Jack Robinson of Pasadena and Hal Finney of San Bernardino were directly responsible for all ten touchdowns. Robinson scored three personally and passed to Frank Spratt Don Winton and Ray Bartlett for three more." Against Ventura 27-6 Jack scored and again after gallops of 60 and 14 yards. Against LACC 16-0 "Jack Robinson took a lateral from Red Robinson and ran 83 yards for the initial score." Against Compton 20-7 "With both elevens at top peak one man- Jack Robinson - spelled the difference between the two squads. First Bulldog tally came when Jackie went 15 yards climaxing a 56 yard drive. Almost immediately Jack pulled down a Compton aerial then passed to Red Robinson for 14 yards and a touchdown. Third score was made on a 45-yard gallop from scrimmage by the phenomenal Jackie. Against Phoenix 40-0 "Jack Robinson got off a 65-yard return." Against San Francisco ! "Jack Robinson was a one-man riot as he scampered 76 yards to a score on the second scrimmage play. Later Jackie went 14 yards for a touchdown and made three conversions for a total of 15 points. Ray Bartlett on a pass from Robinson made another touchdown. Jackie's ball-toting averaged 14.8." Against Glendale 33-6 "Jack Robinson . scampered 85 yards on the last play of the game to climax the conference season. Jack also made the first score. By winning this game the Bulldogs tied Santa Monica for the Western conference league crown." Against Cal Tech 39-6 "Jack Robinson and 16 other seniors rang down the curtain on their Pasadena football careers as they walloped cross town rival Cal Tech in the season finale. Robinson's closing chapter was a 104-yard run to the touchdown climaxing the greatest individual career in jaysee history" after scoring also on a pass. Again team photos of Jack as Acting Captain and forward of the Varsity basketball team and group photo where they were also league champions and stopped the 83-game winning streak of the U.S.C. freshman at 43-36. Great half-page photo of Jackie jumping at the basket in team play another at the basket in team play. One of the great documents of American amateur sports the history of the finest J.C. track team an exhilirating experience to read.
