Sibley not included in the first edition of the same year and an expended list of members; 8vo 32pp. original tan printed front wrapper lacking back wrapper; a good copy of an early piece of Minnesota printing done by Minnesota's first printer and in only the second year of printing in the newly organized territory. Includes the original Act to Incorporate Constitution By-Laws list of members and the text of an address by Minnesota's first historian the Rev. Edward D. Neil concluding with the words "As the second edition of the Annals is going through the press the news is received that a party of Dakotas from Kaposia and Red Wing villages have made an attack on some unsuspecting Ojibwas and taken a boy as a captive and fourteen scalps. Upon their return they danced the scalp-dance in the streets of Stillwater. The captive being placed in the center of the ring formed by the dancers the reeking scalps of his relatives were occasionally shaken in his face." Program for the closing public rehearsal of the 1916-1917 season on May 6 1917 at 715 N. Broad St. Philadelphia. "Invitation Rehearsal" -- on front. An illustration of an American flag and the lyrics to The Star-Spangled Banner are on the back. Conducted by J. W. F. Leman. Founded in 1870 according to the front cover the orchestra consisted of professional musicians music students and amateurs. This program included soprano Jennie Kneedler Johnson and violinists Samuel Belov and Josel Belov who were also members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The conductor J. W. F. Leman also conducted at this time the West Philadelphia Orchestral Society. Later he conducted the Steel Pier Orchestra in Atlantic City in the 1920s; the Women's Symhony Orchestra and the Civic Symphony Orchestra created by the Federal Music Project of the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s; and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra from 1941 to 1952. Dark green faux-leather over card; embossed "Appointments" over a gilt background on front cover with gilt-stamped business name below. Calendar for 1926 on front fixed endpaper and calendar for 1927 on back fixed endpaper. Most of the pages have "Appointments" at the head but are otherwise blank. Former owner's name and address written on back of the first page: "Wm. B. Daub 221 E. Freedley St. Norristown Pa." William B. Daub 1912-1989 was a resident of Norristown Pa. graduated from Haverford College in 1933 and married Doris K. This small appointment book was used by Daub in high school and contains references to his activities including Chataqua band and orchestra practice classes and books he was reading.
