‎Washington D.C.: Committee on Political Education AFL-CIO 1968. 1968. Very good. - Quarto 11 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide. Softcover brochure. Issue number 10-68 of the May 13 1968 4-page labor brochure "Memo from Cope" promoting the candidacy of Hubert Horatio Humphrey nicknamed "3-H" by them. Penned in blue ink at the upper left is a bitter note by Spiro Agnew then Governor of Maryland addressed to his chief of staff Arthur J. Sohmer: "Art - Ask our labor friends why they're always able to go 'gung-ho' for some people but can't find a buck for others". Unsigned but penned in Agnew's hand. The brochure is folded for mailing with the mailing label addressed to "Hon S T Agnew" at the Governors Mansion Annapolis MD. ‎Memphis Tennessee September 22 1970. 1970. Fine. - An original 9-3/4 inch high by 13-3/8 inch wide official White House photograph depicting nurses in their white uniforms seated in the front rows of the auditorium which reportedly hosted an audience of 10000 during Agnew's campaign tour in Memphis Tennessee. Nurses in the front row hold signs supporting the Vice President. "Official Photograph / The White House / Washington / 23SE70 4510-24" is stamped in blue on the verso with the annotation "Memphis Tenn / Sept. 22 1970" penned in ink below the stamp. There are but minor flaws. Near fine. <p>In an interesting side note when Agnew's campaign jet landed in Memphis Al Gore's father Democratic Senator Albert Gore Sr. of Tennessee made a surprise appearance elbowing his way into the Republican receiving line to greet the Vice President who was actually there to support Gore's rival Bill Brock who was not there.<p>In the midst of the Watergate scandal Nixon's Vice President Spiro T. Agnew 1918-1996 was under investigation for Tax Fraud associated with brides he took while serving as Governor of Maryland. In a plea bargain Agnew pled guilty to tax avoidance and was subsequently forced to resign his position as Vice President. Memphis, Tennessee, September 22, 1970. unknown‎

Worthylake writes "I retail my book for $4.95 plus postage if I have to mail it. I can wholesale it in lots of at least ten" later adding "That gives you a 40% profit in retailing" and closing "Happy landings" linking the letter to the afterlife of women's aviation through regional memory print circulation and the networks of the Ninety Nines.<br /> Women's aviation was not recorded in one form alone but through overlapping systems of recognition: news syndication elite aeronautical institutions licensing authorities and later veteran print culture. Minor wear toning and creasing across the group; certificate booklet rubbed at exterior; photographs with expected handling wear and caption remnants on versos; letter folded and lightly stained signature clear. Overall good condition. Earhart's presence as the only woman visible in the 1932 dinner photograph Sheridan's credential booklet with official seals and signatures and the captioned Nixon portrait all preserve different stages in the public legibility of female aviators while the Worthylake letter extends that record into the late twentieth century through women-led aviation memory and book distribution. unknown‎
