‎New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (28 x 21,5 cm). [x], 217, [1] p. In English. Color and b/w ills. This publication is the first result of investigations that began as conversations and contemplations with my long-term advisor and mentor Machteld J. Mellink during a visit toTarsus in May 1998. The occasion for the visit was the 20th Annual Excavation Results Symposium hosted by the Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Monuments and Museums. The idea of preparing for a Bogaziçi University Expedition to Cilicia took shape as one of many projects contrived at our annual sojourn in ancient Myndos (Gümüslük) with Daryo Mizrahi and Selçuk Esenbel. The encouragement and sustained support of Selçuk Esenbel, Professor of History and at the time Chair of the History Deparment at B. U. to initiate such a project laid the ground for all future work.‎

‎The Byzantine Court: Source of Power and Culture. Papers from the Second International Sevgi Gönül Byzantine Studies Symposium.‎

‎New English Paperback. 4to. (25 x 20 cm). In English and Turkish. [xvi], 242, [2] p., color ills. The Byzantine Court: Source of Power and Culture. Papers from the Second International Sevgi Gönül Byzantine Studies Symposium. The designation of Istanbul by the European Union's Council of Ministers as the European Capital of Culture for 2010 was instrumental in the decision to focus on Constantinople in the Second International Sevgi Gonul Byzantine Studies Symposium, which was held on 21-23 June 2010 at the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. The particular theme of the symposium, "The Byzantine Court: Source of Power and Culture," was selected, on the other hand, in view of Constantinople's essential role as Byzantine imperial capital soon after its foundation by the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great on 11 May 330. The aim of the symposium was to evaluate, from administrative, political, social, economic, and religious perspectives, the impact of the political power that spread out from the Great Palace and, as of the twelfth century, from the Blachernai Palace to the rest of the empire, and to investigate the reflections of this power in the cultural sphere. Presented in this volume are thirty out of the forty papers delivered at the Second International Sevgi Gonul Byzantine Studies Symposium. The papers have been grouped under the following four section headings: "Byzantine Palace Architecture," "The Byzantine Court as the Center of Imperial Power," "Ceremonies at the Court and in the City," and "Court Culture and Visual Arts.".‎

Studies on the archaeology, history, art history and geography of the Marmara Region were presented at this symposium which also provided a great opportunity to publish the second of the Settlement Archaeology Series. The symposium was not only incredibly diverse in terms of subject matter, but also the papers extended over a very long period of time. The Graduate Program in Settlement Archaeology will continue organizing and publishing these symposia bilingually in order to continue and increase exchange of ideas and data among young scholars in a dynamic atmosphere and hopefully encourage more graduate symposia in Turkey. In this way, the program hopes to foster self confidence in young scientists and emphasize the universality of scientific data. ‎Miras 3.

‎New German Paperback. 4to. (28 x 20 cm). In German and Turkish. 342 p., ills. Miras 3. Sadberk Hanim Museum opened on 14 October 1980 as Turkey's first private museum and this year celebrates its thirty-third anniversary. The collection consisting of nearly 7000 objects ranges from the Late Neolithic Age to the Byzantine Period, making it possible to trace the course of successive Anatolian civilizations through their material culture. Archaeological Section of the museum has steadily grown over the years, with the purchase of rare items from overseas auctions and the acquisition of registered collections. Sadberk Hanim Museum Archaeological Section will have been open for 25 years in 2013 and it was decided to celebrate this anniversary with an exhibition entitled Traces of Ancient Ages, presenting 150 works that throw light on the periods to which they belong.‎

‎Continuity and change: New approaches to legacy data in archaeology.= Süreklilik ve degisim: Miras veriye yeni yaklasimlar. Sempozyum bildirileri: Ankara, 29 Nisan 2016.‎

Continuity and change: New approaches to legacy data in archaeology.= Süreklilik ve degisim: Miras veriye yeni yaklasimlar. Sempozyum bildirileri: Ankara, 29 Nisan 2016. Research on regional studies in archaeology has accelerated in the past 20 years and changed the archaeological discourse in a fundamental way. This recent perspective influenced the archaeological perception favorably in terms of evaluating the settlements with a holistic view, assessment of central places with their rural territories that cannot be separated from each other. The idea of organizing a symposium on this subject comes from our belief in the importance of removing ourselves of the understanding resulting from handling the settlement in Anatolian archeology for a long period of time, stripped from its dynamics and our belief in the importance of presenting new researches. Our department, Settlement Archaeology Program in METU was founded in 2000 mainly for filling the gap in Anatolian archaeology with the viewpoint of interdisciplinary studies and regional studies in archaeology. Studies at regional scale are recently integrated to archaeological projects in our country, yet produced important results. The main goal of this symposium is to provide a discussion ground for young scholars who carry out archaeological studies at regional scale and share various perspectives and results yielded by regional studies in Anatolia. ‎Alakent Church: A Byzantine monument at Myra 12th-13th centuries.‎

‎New New English Original bdg. Dust wrapper. 4to. (28 x 20 cm). Edition in English. 269 p., ills. Alakent church: A Byzantine monument at Myra 12th-13th centuries. The presence of this small Byzantine church in the Alakent neighborhood of Demre has been known to archaeologists and art historians for quite some time. Revealing the structure from under the five meter deep alluvial fill in which it was buried was only possible as a result of the excavation work carried out in 2010 as part of the Myra-Andriake Excavations. The alluvial fill kept most of the aspects of the building such as mural paintings, roof tiles, facade decorations and spolia intact. The book was edited by the GABAM's director and member of Koç University Archaeology and Art History Department, Engin Akyürek. "The chapters of book are 'The Story of the Excavation' by Nevzat Çevik, the director of the Myra-Andriake Excavations, 'Myra: The Metropolis of Lycia', 'Alakent Church: Location And Architecture' and 'Conclusion' by Engin Akyürek, 'Architectural Sculpture' by Ayça Tiryaki, 'Wall Paintings' by Nilay Çoragan, 'Ceramic Finds' and 'Burials' by Özgü Çömezoglu Uzbek, 'Inscriptions' by Hüseyin Sami Öztürk and Christof Schuler, 'Conservation Treatments' by Sebahattin Küçük.".‎
