Dalla Banca d'Italia di Guido Carli al Banco di Napoli, dalla Cariroma a Capitalia, fino a Mediobanca e alle Generali, Cesare Geronzi è stato un protagonista assoluto della finanza italiana. Hanno fatto discutere le sue relazioni con Silvio Berlusconi, Massimo D'Alema e Antonio Fazio, le grandi operazioni bancarie culminate con la fusione del polo romano in UniCredit suggerita da Mario Draghi. E ancor più ha suscitato reazioni la sua ascesa alla presidenza dei templi della finanza del Nord. Nel dialogo serrato con Massimo Mucchetti, l'autore di "Licenziare i padroni?" e "Il baco del Corriere", prende corpo la "confessione" di un banchiere non pentito. Sono innumerevoli gli episodi mai raccontati che restituiscono la trama dei grandi affari: un continuo gioco di specchi che rimanda le mutevoli immagini dei vincitori. Indicato da Ciampi in Cariroma, Geronzi prese poi il potere sponsorizzando la Lazio come chiedeva il romanista Andreotti. Si sentì domandare da Enrico Cuccia, che nei suoi ultimi giorni voleva consolidare il suo delfino Maranghi in Mediobanca: "Vuol sempre bene a Vincenzino?". Ottenne da Giovanni Agnelli un soave: "Ma caro Geronzi, se lei non vuole, non si fa" con cui liquidare l'assalto alla Banca di Roma.

Excellent copy. ~ Fourth edition. Published originally as two separate works, part I, II, III, and IV under the title "Die Verwirklichung des Rechtes auf den vollen Arbeitsertrag (.)" (1906); and part V under the title "Die neue Lehre vom Geld und Zins (.)" (1911). It appeared later as second edition in one volume with the title "Die natürliche Wirtschaftsordnung". English version, "The Natural Economic Order" translated from the 6th German edition by Philip Pye, appeared in 1929. Silvio Gesell (1862-1930), German businessman. Born in Belgium, Gesell emigrated to Buenos Aires, where he successfully engaged in business. In 1914 he returned to Germany and became, five years later, finance minister in the short-lived government of Bavaria. His ideas in "Die natürliche Wirtschaftsordnung" are a reaction against Marxian socialism. Keynes, in his "General Theory", gives much space to the book, and expresses his belief that the future would learn more from the spirit of Gesell than from that of Marx. (Mai, P. 95).

L'economia capitalista ha messo a repentaglio la sopravvivenza del pianeta e condannato miliardi di individui a una vita disumana, persone classificate come poveri assoluti, e nessuno sa quanti siano esattamente. Inutili come consumatori e come lavoratori, non si sente il bisogno di contarli: "Sono solo avanzi, scarti, di cui sbarazzarsi". Francesco Gesualdi non usa mezzi termini, descrive senza giri di parole le conseguenze sociali e ambientali di un sistema che dà importanza solo ai soldi e antepone la ricchezza alla felicità. Ma ora che il pianeta è sull'orlo del collasso si tratta di capire come recuperare la situazione, come garantire a tutti un'esistenza dignitosa riducendo il consumo di risorse e la produzione di rifiuti. La soluzione è cambiare prospettiva, rifondare l'economia sui valori che questo sistema ha sempre rinnegato: equità, inclusione, solidarietà, comunità, sostenibilità. Solo trasformando la pietra scartata in pietra d'angolo potremo salvarci. Va ripensato il ruolo del mercato e dell'economia pubblica, del lavoro salariato e dell'autoproduzione. Ricordandoci che in economia non esistono nuove leggi da scoprire, ma solo nuove miscelazioni da sperimentare.
