La qualità è eccelsa e già all'Esposizione Universale del 1867 Hermes vince la medaglia d'argento di prima classe. In pochi decenni il suo nome conquista l'aristocrazia europea e la rampante borghesia francese. Nel 1897 avviene la svolta: la casa, ora guidata dal figlio Charles-Emile (nella nuova, storica sede di 24, Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré), mette in commercio il "Sac Haut à Courroies", una grande borsa in cuoio destinata a contenere sella, briglie, morsi e bardature varie. Presto, però, si scopre che al posto di sella e briglie la borsa può ospitare una gran quantità di oggetti differenti, tutti quelli che un vero viaggiatore desidera avere con sé, ovunque nel mondo e in qualsiasi momento. Hermes entra così nel mercato della moda. Da allora, generazione dopo generazione (oggi siamo alla sesta, rappresentata da Pierre-Alexis Dumas e Pascale Mussard), Hermes ha allargato il suo raggio d'azione che - oltre ai prodotti per l'equitazione e a tanti diversi modelli di borse - comprende foulard, sciarpe, cravatte, abiti, calzature, profumi, orologi, bijoux, porcellane, argenti, cristalli.

brossura Le "Leggende euganee", pubblicate per la prima volta nel 1941 con lo pseudonimo di Sellida Ilvaro, costituiscono l'opera più riuscita di Silvia Rodella, la cui genesi e "poetica" sono ben condensate nella Premessa: "Così gli Euganei mi presero tutta, il cipresso ha saputo dirmi tante cose e ogni angolo di questa terra mi ha narrato la sua storia, perché dell'essere amato si ama ogni cosa". Il vero protagonista dell'opera di Rodella è il paesaggio, che si estende nella fascia meridionale dei Colli tra Lozzo, Este, Arquà Petrarca. La ricchezza e la precisione dei particolari nelle descrizioni delle località in cui sono ambientate le leggende sono evidentemente il frutto di una esperienza diretta, "sul campo", di luoghi, sentieri, corsi d'acqua, speroni rocciosi, che solo una camminatrice poteva acquisire. "Leggende euganee" è quindi un'opera che merita di essere riscoperta e riletta, anche perché testimonia una sensibilità pionieristica per la conoscenza del patrimonio paesaggistico dei Colli Euganei.
