Il libretto narra di come nell'arte presepiale napoletana, oltre l'uso di raffigurare le scene della Natività, venne introdotto anche l'uso di realizzare delle scenografie "presepiali" Pasquali. Le stazioni della Via Crucis e il ciclo della Passione di Gesù, ospitate in scarabattole e campane di vetro, infatti, si trasformarono in "presepio", assumendo i tratti "astratti" del simbolismo e della metafora, già usati nel presepio della Natività.
