F�lix Rub�n Garc�a Sarmiento January 18 1867 � February 6 1916 known as Rub�n Dar�o was a Nicaraguan poet who initiated the Spanish-American literary movement known as modernismo modernism that flourished at the end of the 19th century. Dar�o has had a great and lasting influence on 20th-century Spanish literature and journalism. He has been praised as the "Prince of Castilian Letters" and undisputed father of the modernismo literary movement. Azul. 1888 has as many tales in prose as poems which caught the critics' attention through their metric variety. It presents us some of the preoccupations characteristic of Dario such as his expression of dissatisfaction towards the bourgeoisie see for example the tale "El rey burgu�s" A new edition of the text was published in 1890 this one was augmented with several new texts amongst which were sonnets in Alexandrine verses. Seconda edizione (edizione originale Roma, 1851) di questa monografia sull'Australia scritta da Rudesindo Salvado, monaco cassinese, vescovo di Porto Vittorio in Australia, fondatore della missione benedettina di Nuova Norcia. "In queste memorie si narrano le scoperte fatte nell'oceano Australe dagli Europei cominciando dal Magellano, insino agli ultimi navigatori del 1848. LA. parla dei primi scoprimenti dell'Australia e guida il lettore di porto in porto, di golfo in golfo, per tutto l'ampio giro di quell'immensa isola. Descritta la postura, i piani, i monti, fiumi, il clima ec. entra a ragionare di tutti i rami della storia naturale di quelle regioni con molta dovizia di cognizioni, ordine e distinzioni di parti...Parla dei primi stabilimenti degli Inglesi e della citta' di Sidney, indi tocca delle successive colonie: fa vedere gli sforzi che furon fatti per superare immensi ostacoli; ma al tempo stesso fa osservare l'immensa strage e la barbarie adoprata dagli Inglesi protestanti per stabilirvisi, in modo che in 23 anni di tante migliaia di pacifici abitatori non vi rimase della tribu' di Sidney che un uomo e tre femmine...Il leggere i pericoli che corsero i due Padri Serra e Salvado che primi penetrarono fra quei selvaggi, e' cosa che desta piu' spavento che meraviglia. Dopo avere parlato delle missioni, l'A. descrive i loro costumi, le cacce, le armi, la vita domestica e guerriera, i cibi, le medicine, i riti mortuari, e per ultimo parla della lingua" (Bertocci, "Repertorio bibliografico delle opere stampate in Italia nel secolo XIX", vol. 2, 1876, p. 50).
