L'esplorazione di antiche credenze e le forme in cui si manifestano trovano spazio in un percorso caratterizzato dalla ricerca della narrazione. Una figura particolarmente emblematica pervade alcuni luoghi ed è il soggetto principale di antichi racconti: il laùru. Si narra di oggetti che inspiegabilmente cadono al suolo durante la notte, di sensazioni di soffocamento, lividi sul corpo, crini di cavallo intrecciati, di donne o bambine con ciocche di capelli tagliate. L'indagine prende forma attraverso la trascrizione di 38 videointerviste, svolte in diversi comuni pugliesi, ma il fenomeno è noto con altri nomi a seconda delle aree geografiche, delle relative culture e dialetti.

br. «"Il fazzoletto è la bandiera personale di ogni senese". Questa la definizione di Lévi Strauss dell'oggetto che forse più di ogni altro è caro ai contradaioli, raccolta ormai molti anni fa dall'amico antropologo Alessandro Falassi. E la bandiera? Fin da piccoli siamo abituati a scegliere: "vuoi fare il tamburino o l'alfiere?". Personalmente approdai alla bandiera. Senza grandi risultati, a dire il vero, ma è un qualcosa che una volta imparato non si dimentica più. Del resto come dimenticarsi di quell'oggetto di seta - oggi spesso di poliestere - che accompagna la nascita di un nuovo contradaiolo con l'esposizione alle finestre di casa? Difficile dire cosa sia davvero la bandiera per un senese. Fa troppo parte della vita, ne rimarca ogni momento - nascita, battesimo contradaiolo, matrimonio, funerale - per riuscire a fare un'analisi oggettiva. E seppur normata da un regolamento condiviso le bandiere ogni tanto - proprio perché vissute come oggetti personali - a Siena escono dallo spazio riservato, dove marcano il confine, e le ritroviamo esposte alle finestre dei quartieri periferici, e talvolta dei paesi vicini». Le lacrime delle madri straziate per i naufraghi inghiottiti dall'impietoso mare. È la luce che s'accende nella stanza delle donne quando è ancora notte. È il canto: «Svigghiativiii ch'è tardu...» Il cùscuso è il cibo che rende i bambini diffidenti, ma appena l'assaggiano vogliono solo quello. Si dice che è fratellanza. Ma è di più. lo do a te e tu in cambio insegni a me, che è tutto quello che c'è da sapere sull'umanità e dintorni.

Castaneda maintains his vivid sense of wonder as Don Juan escorts him into a new world of mystery and magic; he offers a crisp presentation of esoteric ideas. Taking control of one's dreams says Don Juan is the key to a sorcerer's power. But what kind of sorcerer Don Juan makes a distinction between the ancients who manipulated the world for personal power and moderns-- such as himself-- who search for freedom.
