It is where the first Turks (mainly Turkish Cypriots) used to meet. This was their one and only meeting point out of necessity as they did not have any associations, cafes or restaurants of their own to gather and socialise. Although it is known that some Turkish Cypriots arrived in London in the 1920's and 1930's Turkish Cypriots started coming in bigger numbers to London in the 1940's and 'Güvercinlik' is the place where their journey started.

In recent years work emanating from such diverse disciplines as cultural and physical anthropology ethology and neuropsychology warrants a new look at this intriguing issue. It is probable that incest avoidance is widespread among the vertebrata and is "built into the wiring." As learned behavior becomes more important phylogenectically curiosity and exploration plays a larger a larger role in adaptation and has manifest survival advantages. Incest avoidance functions as a mechanism to propel the individual into new relationships and "social territory." For humans incest avoidance and its later elaboration into a cultural taboo serve to motivate exploration of and attachment to a wider social nexus than the family. The colour is still good with light soiling. Having been protected by the dj the boards are unusually clean square and sharp with bumping to spine head and pushing to tail. Bound in full red cloth with a silhouette in gold slightly dulled by Cecil Beaton which is repeated in black on the dj. 120 pp; frontispiece and 8 other full-page colour plates showing costume designs by Beaton along with 5 b/w plates of set designs all of which are in vg clean condition. Thus writes Philip Slater in this classic work on narcissism and family relationships in fifth-century Athenian society. Exploring a rich corpus of Greek mythology and drama, he argues that the personalities and social behavior of the gods were neurotic, and that their neurotic conditions must have mirrored the family life of the people who perpetuated their myths. The author traces the issue of narcissism to mother-son relationships, focusing primarily on the literary representation of Hera and the male gods and showing how it related to devalued women raising boys in an ambitious society dominated by men.
