2 hand-coloured woodcuts copied from the illustrations in The Universal Magazine for October and November 1761 the first taken as the Archbishop of Canterbury places the Crown on the King's head is lettered with explanations of the crowded scene including at h 'The Dukes of Normandie and Acquitain and other great officers' the second similarly explained shows the King's Champion flanked by the Earl Marshal and Lord High Constable riding up the centre between the long tables watched by the diners and the others present in the galleries printed within a 'Greek Key' border both referring to 22nd September 1761 laid down on two separate album leaves 10" x 7" with other items on the versos the two prints no date circa edges worn and border trimmed in places without loss to text or image The original articles of 1761 explain the role at the Dinner of the King's Champion who challenged any one to assert that George III was not their lawful sovereign and the 'Dukes of Normandy and Aquitaine' at the Coronation. The French King had anciently a council of twelve great Peers 6 lay and 6 ecclesiastic. Long after the council ceased to function the ecclesiastics attended at Reims but the lay peerages had became vested in the crown. So the King appointed people to represent his lay peerages. Henry II liked this idea which was last used in 1761 given that in 1801 Great Britain renounced all claims to France and the use of the lilies on her coat of arms. On the versos are 1 a pleasing engraving of Bouverie Hall Chart next Sutton Valence Kent and 2 a number of cuttings including temperance verses and the monument to Captain Charles Colby of the 98th Dragoons killed by a tiger at 'Rawal Pinde' 27th March 1852. unknown

Regarding an address given to the King and printed in the London Gazette of 31 August congratulating him on the birth of his son William IV. The author contests that in this address the Common Council criticized the King without any specifics and that in the address they "tell the King that unless his affairs are in a flourishing situation that he is never to expect the smallest support or assistance from the city of London." He says that their behavior is not suited to their position.

Printed for W. Nicoll unknown
Our Court at St. Jamess 5 February 1784. Vellum. 13 x 9 inches folds Royal wafer seal affixed in good condition. King George III reigned 1760-1820. This regiment was formed in 1755 as The Artillery Company of Ireland. The name was changed in 1760 to The Royal Regiment of Irish Artillery. The Regiment served in Canada in 1777 with Major General John Burgoyne taking part in the American War of Independence. In addition some Royal Irish Artillery gunners were shipped directly to New York under Brigadier-General James Pattison. The subject of this Commission Joseph Walker commanded the Regiment in 1800 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General. The soldiers were recruited all over Ireland and were trained in Dublin CastleIn 1801 following the Act of Union and the formation of the United Kingdom the Royal Irish Artillery was absorbed as an integral part of the Royal Artillery and therefore ceased to exist. The countersignature is Thomas Townshend 1st Viscount Sydney 1733-1800. He is famous for his support of the plans for a convict settlement in New South Wales. On 26 January 1788 Arthur Philip named Sydney in New South Wales in his honour. hardcover
