Archaeological Investigations of Southwestern Missouri
199 pages with frontispiece illustrations maps tables and bibliography. Octavo 9" x 6" bound in original publisher's wrappers. Volume 20 of The Missouri Archaeologist. First edition.

This report was submitted with the object of recording all information possible concerning the prehistory of Barry County Missouri and the surrounding counties. With Monet as a focal point exploration extended as far west as Powell on the sugar creek and Anderson on the Indian Creek in McDonald County. The Shoal Creek Basin was explored as far west as Grandby in Newton County and Spring River and Center Creed as far as Carthage. Fragmentary remains of stone age cultures were present on campsites and village site throughout the entire area. In the alleys of the hill country are limestone bluff shelters and caves with ancient ash deposits. The need of this report lies in the fact that it concerns what may be the last of the large collections of cataloged material to be salvaged from this area. Condition:

Light edge wear corners bumped. A very good copy. Missouri Archaeologist paperback
