‎Cites et enceintes de l'Ombrie antique‎

‎Paperback, 456 p., + ill. & cartes, 190 x 255 mm. ISBN 13070270200. Language : French, Italian.‎

‎Geographie de Ptolemee en Occident (IVe-XVIe siecle)‎

‎, brepols, 2009 443 p., 30 colour ill., 210 x 270 mm, Languages: French Hardback. ISBN 9782503531649.‎

‎In Late Antiquity, Ptolemy?s treatise on cartography (second century AD) was yet to achieve the recognition that Ptolemy had hoped for, despite relatively wide distribution. However, in the early Middle Ages, knowledge of the Geographia did not disappear completely, owing mainly to treatises on astronomy translated from Arabic. The Latin version produced at the beginning of the 15th century did not, therefore, have the revolutionary character that is often attributed to it. The work that made it possible to understand the universe of Antiquity as it appeared in the classics was well received from the ?literary? point of view. But the astrologists and scientists educated in universities were instrumental, in a way that has, until now, been little studied, in analysing the contradictions between the Ptolemy?s representation of the universe and other representations that were still current and accepted. The long process of the modernisation of Ptolemy?s vision entered a decisive phase at the beginning of the second half of the fifteenth century following the synthesis between humanism and natural philosophy. It continued until the beginning of the sixteenth century, considering the modes of representation (anachronistically called ?projections?), retaining the concept of the influence of celestial bodies on the sublunar sphere, a feature of conceptions of the world held since Antiquity that the work of Ptolemy justified as best. This book questions a certain number of commonplaces of cultural history. It is based on the first hand analysis of Greek and Roman texts and maps from highly diverse intellectual backgrounds.‎

‎, Brepols, 2010 352 p., 240 x 310 mm,Languages: English, Hardback with dusjacket. ISBN 9782503535784.‎

‎This is the first published summary of the entire complex of the great necropoles of Rome, which were situated on Vatican Hill. The work concerns one of the most extensive, richest, and least-known Roman archaeological phenomena and bears witness to the work of creating an underground museum that has been followed internationally as a model of conservation practice. From the submerged world of the necropoles emerges the funeral ?normality? of the Roman world, from poorer cremations in wooden urns, to sumptuous sarcophagi, to sepulchres adorned with frescoes and mosaics. One can also observe Egyptian cults influencing the practice of epicurean philosophy. In addition, we can catch a glimpse of the first traces of Christianity, which include the presence of St. Peter the Apostle?s tomb. "Il s'agit d'un tres bel ouvrage qu'on ne se lasse pas de feuilleter, et dont on retiendra plus particulierement la richesse du propos et la qualite des photographies en pleine page, ainsi que le souci de donner un apercu aussi bien de la diversite du decor ornemental que du mobilier mis au jour. ‎The Younghusband Expedition (To Lhasa) (An Interpretation) [Hardcover]‎

‎In a world of rapid technological development, people are constantly falling behind and becoming technological illiterates. Technology companies are constantly struggling to find effective ways to help customers or potential customers understand the advantages or the operation of their new products. Technical writing is a specialized, structured way of writing, where information is presented in a format and manner that best suits the cognitive and psychological needs of the readers, so they can respond to a document. Thus, it is writing formatted and shaped to make reading as simple, poignant, unequivocal, and enjoyable as possible. It so happens that most technical writing positions are still primarily offered to those who can write effective end-user manuals, system design documents, Web sites, and the like for engineering and IT firms. This book aims to teach students the skill of technical writing. It is unique in that it gets to the point, uses practical outlines throughout, and actually shows students how to produce the most common technical documents step-by-step. It employs a laid-back approach that is focused on providing real-world information in a straightforward and easy-to-understand manner. ‎Art and Culture of Marginalised Nomadic Tribes in Andhra Pradesh [Hardcover]‎

‎India is rich in its oral tradition. Its antiquity defies historical inquiry. Indian folklore offers diversity in the forms of expression while retaining the unity of theme, i.e. Dharma., The forms may be changing periodically to suit the times. The purpose of these popular art forms has been the same in a way as the classical arts. They provide education through entertainment. Andhra Desa, comprising roughly the present state of Andhra Pradesh, is very significant in its folk tradition in variety of forms. Numerous producing and service castes so far maintained their own sub castes of bards to retain their collective memory of the community and family histories besides propagating the Puranic knowledge and stories from great epics. The dependent sub-castes who have been so far preserving these arts and ancient knowledge are speedily disappearing due to lack of patronage and changing life-style. In this context, this book, the result of a painstaking research involving lot of field work may serve as a tribute to those unselfish barefoot narrators and preservers of history of bygone ages. About The Author:- Born in 1962 at Hanamkonda, Warangal district, A.P., India. Kakatiya University, Warangal has awarded him Ph.D. for this work. He has been teaching History for the last twenty years at under graduate and post graduate levels. He is exceptionally experienced and a popular teacher of History. He has contributed several research articles to reputed academic journals. Besides the present one, the following works introduce him to his fellow students of History: • History of Modern Europe (Telugu) published by SDLCE, K.U., Warangal • Indian Heritage and Culture (Telugu) published by SDLCE, K.U., Warangal • History of Andhra Desa (Telugu) published by SDLCE, K.U., Warangal • Historiography (Telugu) published by SDLCE, K.U., Warangal • History of Modern World (Telugu) published by SDLCE, K.U., Warangal. At present he is working as Asst. Professor of History at university Arts and Science College. Kakatiya University, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh.
