This is the 2nd edition published 3 years after the original first edition. This copy signed and inscribed by Laughlin. Unpaginated, but 100 beautiful full-page black and white plates. This copy is signed by Laughlin and a friend. This is a very good cloth copy, with some foxing mainly to the page-edges (visible when book is closed), and also to endpapers. Plates clean. Slight wrinkling to the bottom portion of the pages. The dust jacket is 95% there, missing a small fragment from the top of the spine, and a smaller chip out of the top right corner of the front panel (it just cuts off the corner of the "M" in Mississippi), also a few folds and creases on the edges. The hardcover portfolio has a printed salmon-colored title label, also the same label on the text booklet. The portfolio boards have a little light fading or discoloration, but still very good. The hard spine of the portfolio has the title printed in salmon colored letters also very good. The text booklet is also very good, with almost no wear, just one tiny inscription to the front endpaper of the booklet. The loose plates are also very clean and fresh. Text by Joseph Lux in German. All plates are reproduced in black & white. Seven drawings of interiors reproduced in black & white in the text booklet. This is the 7th edition of this important collection of Empire and Biedermeier furniture and decorative arts assembled by Joseph Lux and with his introduction and notes. This is a hardcover copy in a very nice pink dust jacket, that is not price-clipped ($5.00) that is also printed with a woodcut illustration of the fabled "Oak Alley". The book itself is in very good condition, as the light brown cloth covers are very clean and unmarked, even the tipped-on title on pink paper (the same paper as the jacket) looks as fresh as the day it was published. Inside the book there is some offsetting on the printed pink paper paste-down, some foxing to about 10 pages at the beginning and 15 pages or so at the end, otherwise very nice. The dust jacket is almost all there: the back panel is fine, the front panel and spine are present, but there is a small piece missing from the top of the spine which just extends onto the edge of the front panel, not affecting the image or text on the front cover. 10" high X 7 1/2" wide, 162 pages. Text by Natalie Scott. Introduction by N.C.Curtis.
