Julien le Pinvre N�7 1810. 64mo 31 x 21 mms. tiny! pp. 64 12 full-page engraved plates on letterpress contemporary crimson morocco with original stitching through spine which is gilt to a trefoil roll both covers gilt to an interlocking circle roll gilt flower motif on each cover upside down all edges gilt; slight crease to upper right hand side of front cover some other very minor wear but generally a very good copy. The binding is similar to that on other French miniatures from this period which I have had in stock. I have not traced a copy of this miniature anywhere - not in WorldCat Copac CC de France. ‎S. Franciscus Serap. Saint Francis of Assisi‎

‎n.p.: n.a. 1800. Painting on vellum 3� by 4� inches. Finely detailed depicting St. Francis of Assisi the Seraphic Doctor in great detail. St. Francis complete with stigmata is accompanied by a crucifix thorns a flagellum a book resting on a skull and a flowering plant supported by a decorative border. There is no signature that we can discern. The miniature is mounted on card with a hinged mat of brown cloth. Dimensions of the mat are 5� by 8 inches. A collection label is pasted beside the miniature not visible when the mat is closed " Collection of A. & C. Rub Hollywood California.". On the reverse in ink and an unknown hand is inscribed "A gift from Christian Rub Moving Picture Actor. 1935." Christian Rub whose wife's name was Amy was an Austrian actor with over 100 movies to his credit. His career spanned from silent films until 1952. He was the basis for the animation of Gepetto and also Gepetto's voice in Walt Disney's 'Pinocchio'. The vellum is lightly age-soiled but still bright and vibrant; the reverse of the mount has some old staining but overall this gives a very good appearance. n.a. hardcover‎

The text is the Olympic Oath printed in German English French Spanish Russian Finnish Swedish and Italian. The edition must have been relatively large - as of this cataloguing copies remain for sale at such venues as the Museum Shop at the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz. Good plus copy tightly bound some soil and tanning to endpapers and Fannie has practiced her signature in pencil on endpapers and first blank. Text shows toning. The second c. 1852 is in good plus condition or better red cloth glt on front cover decorations in blind on rear cover with Fannie now spelled Fanny continuing to practice her name in pencil 84 pp mainly poetry; the third book Daily Food no date same size gilt decorated front cover and Fannie or Fanny now gives her last name; she is Miss Fannie Bond.
