Une historiographie contemporaine oppose souvent un Ab lard renouvelant la philosophie par l'accueil de la logica nova et de la dialectique un Bernard dogmatique, dernier des P res de l' glise. Prenant le contrepied de cette caricature, la premi re partie affronte la premi re question et pr sente un Bernard de Clairvaux philosophe, fleuron du socratisme chr tien. Reconnu comme tel depuis Pierre Courcelle, Bernard donne toutefois cette philosophie socratique une inflexion marquant le primat de l'humilit (Ch. I), le d tour n cessaire par la charit (Ch. II) en vue de parvenir la contemplation (Ch. IV). Entre ces deux points d'inflexion, un chapitre d veloppe le r le central pour lui du libre arbitre et celui de la conscience (Ch. III). Il est de coutume d'opposer le clo tre et l' cole au XIIe si cle. Toutefois, si nous entendons par l , non un lieu d'enseignement o l'on noterait les pr sents et les absents, mais un r seau d'influence intellectuelle, voire spirituelle, il devient possible de parler d'une cole cistercienne. This book focuses on the important Islamic contribution to the architecture of Puglia, a contribution that was centered in the once Muslim city of Lucera and subsequently came to be of significance for the building of Christian cathedrals and churches in this beautiful region, little known to the outside world.? Lucera exemplifies all the periods of architecture noted above, and is, in addition, unique because it was a protected Muslim island in a sea of Christianity during the High Middle Ages - at the very time Christians were conducting crusades against the infidel.
