‎In 2002, architects and fellow students David Van Severen, who worked at Neutelings Riedijk Architects, and Kersten Geers, started working for St phane Beel and Xaveer de Geyter, the OFFICE architect firm Kersten Geers, David Van Severen. One of their first designs, OFFICE 2: Entrance was for a notary in Antwerp. In the early days the duo started a collaboration with photographer Bas Princen to turn off the visual style of the office. In 2005, the agency designed OFFICE 15: Border Crossing to mark the architectural competition "Build the Border Wall". As an alternative idea for a border crossing between the United States of America and Mexico, they draw a garden that is walled with white, nine-meter high walls. Inside the walls are palm trees planted in a grid and pavilions for passport control and administration. The design is awarded the first prize. OFFICE Kersten Geers In 2007 David Van Severen designed the Handelsbeurs bridge on the Kouter in Ghent. The bridge runs over the Ketelvaart and connects the terrace of the Handelsbeurs with the Ketelvest. For this design, the office was awarded the Belgian Architecture Prize in 2009 in the Public Space category. For the 2008 Architecture Biennial in Venice, OFFICE designed the Belgian pavilion. With After the Party (1907-2007) the agency brought an ode to the Belgian pavilion that had turned 100 years ago, but had not had a party. Two years later, OFFICE received the Silver Lion in Venice for the most promising young architects. In 2014, the architectural office was declared the winner of an architectural competition for the new building of the Swiss French-speaking broadcaster Radio T l vision Suisse. The new broadcasting building will be located in the city of Lausanne on the campus of the Technical University and Universit de Lausanne. OFFICE appears in October 2014 on a shortlist of five teams for the design of the new VRT building. In 2015, an episode of the Reyers 2020 Canvas series will be dedicated to the agency and their design. Ultimately, the Robbrecht & Daem architectural firm wins the competition. In 2016, OFFICE was appointed as the curator of the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk. That year there is an exhibition on the work of OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen from March to May in the Brussels museum BOZAR. The retrospective exhibition Everything Architecture shows models and drawings together with artworks that are related to the style and idea of the office.‎

However, few systematic proposals about how this theology can respond to questions that arise from modern science have yet appeared. ‎Summary Medieval (political) communication followed rules that were defined, negotiated, and altered in processes of exchange. Conflicts resulting from different communication practices, as well as forms of innovation, revolve around rules that are not self-evident. Political actors such as princes and cities, chanceries, secretaries, ambassadors, and councillors formed rules of political participation, which became visible in written documentation. These rules were both formed and negotiated via processes of communication (a practice-oriented understanding of political participation). Medieval chanceries can thus be understood as a vast field of experimentation where different solutions were tested, passed on, or discarded. This book explores communication practices in German, French, Italian, Tyrolian, and Gorizian chanceries, as well as at diets from the tenth to the sixteenth century. Its chapters examine royal, monastic, princely, and communal chanceries. For the early and high Middle Ages, a close analysis of documents will reconstruct negotiation and communication from within the documents themselves. For the later Middle Ages, focus will turn to the chancery, with the appearance of chancery orders and chancery annotations that provide explicit insight in communication between the chancellors, secretaries, and political authorities (princes or cities). The growing amount and variety of documents issued in the late Middle Ages allows us to retrace conflicts resulting from differing chancery practices as well as attempts to reorganise the chancery into a political instrument for the prince. The processes of political communication will be followed in three parts. Part I focuses on the rules within documents. Part II looks at administrative processes within specific chanceries, while Part III explores forms of exchange between the chancery and other political actors. ‎When is a work of art finished, done, terminated? In this essay, Christophe Van Gerrewey suggests that the incompleteness of art mirrors the un de-cidability of the world, about which the last word hasn't been said yet either. An artwork can be unfinished in seven ways: it is completed by the audience, it suggests a better world, the artist can't leave it behind, it is a collective process, it reflects modesty, it is too utopian (for the time being), or its value has yet to be discovered. The photographs of ateliers and studios that illustrate this essay, show the places where all these thoughts and con-siderations can originate. Van Gerrewey's philosophical essay is enriched in this issue with a photo section. For this image sec-tion, Katrien Daemers photographed fifteen studios of contemporary artists, leaving the artist absent but allowing the (un)completed work to speak all the more. With studio photographs of Nel Aerts, Kasper Bosmans, Ria Bosman, Michael Borremans, Luc Deleu, Jan De Vylder, Sophie Nys ... Christophe Van Gerrewey (1982) is an author, critic and teacher. He published three novels and a collection of essays between 2012 and 2017. He has been an editorial board member of architec-ture magazine OASE since 2010 and, since 2018, of art magazine De Witte Raaf. From 2015 to 2024, he taught architectural theory at EPFL in Switzer-land. In June 2024, the survey work Something Completely Different. Architecture in Belgium will be published by MIT Press (London/Cambridge).‎
