David Keuning
Collaboratie en berechting van Nederlandse architecten 1940-1950
gebonden, 16 x 24 cm, rijk geillustreerd in kleur, 424 pagina's. ISBN 9789460043246.

David V. Mollenhoff & Mary Jane Hamilton
Frank Lloyd Wright's Monona Terrace: The Enduring Power of a Civic Vision
Hardcover, 324 pages, ENG, 290 x 225 x 30 mm, dustjacket, black linen with white imprint, illustrated in colour / b/w. ISBN 9780299155001. Frank Lloyd Wright was a great originator and a highly productive architect. He designed some 800 buildings, of which 380 were actually built. UNESCO designated eight of them?including Fallingwater, the Guggenheim Museum, and Unity Temple?as World Heritage sites in 2019./////Opened in the summer of 1997 as a convention and community center, Monona Terrace was first conceived by Wright in 1938 and resulted in ten designs, thousands of drawings, five local referenda, ten lawsuits, and several acts of the state legislature. Mollenhoff and Hamilton provide the definitive history of the building's design, the tempestuous relationship of Wright to his hometown of Madison, and the community leaders and activists who rallied to oppose or support the project. Drawing from the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives, thousands of newspaper accounts, extensive government records, and dozens of interviews, the book also features more than 200 illustrations in color and black and white, including many published here for the first time.

The Practice of Classical Architecture: The Architecture of Quinlan and Francis Terry 2005-2015 First Edition
New York / London / Paris / Milan: Rizzoli 2015. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. 12 x 9 x 1. Full Color Illustrations. Bound in white paper with gilt title on the cover and spine. A thought-provoking architectural monograph on one of the most renowned and original classicist practices today.

Quinlan and Francis Terry Architects is a British firm that specializes in new Classical architecture. Their work is a delightful expression—in plaster and marble in brick and wood in stone—of exuberant timelessness where fluted columns rise beside doorways to explode in Corinthian capitals of exquisite craftsmanship and structural integrity.

Throughout the work attention to detail to craftsmanship and to reasoned proportions is apparent. Quinlan Terry is at home in every traditional style from Classical Greek and Roman to the many forms of Gothic and Renaissance. Terry’s son and partner Francis is recognized as a brilliant talent in his own right and is as highly regarded for his thoughtful design as for his breathtaking architectural drawings.

Together the duo are at the heart of a resurgent interest in an architecture and design that is both livable and inspiring. This book features the firm’s work from 2005 to 2015 and includes Kilboy a country house in County Tipperary Ireland; Kingsham Farm in Sussex England; and ongoing work such as Locuston Estate in Kentucky. It also showcases more than forty master drawings by Francis Terry renderings that are at once beautiful and expressive of one of the highest aims of architecture—they elevate the soul—much like the houses and spaces built by this extraordinary firm. 224 pp. Pictorial dust jacket.

CONDITION: Covers have a very small impact dent on the top edge otherwise fine. Inside the front cover is an attractive pre-printed book plate from previous owner. Pages are unmarked crisp and clean. Binding and text block are square and tight. Dustjacket has very light rubbing and edge wear. Full refund if not satisfied. Rizzoli hardcover

David Watkin
Architect King: George III and the Culture of the Enlightenment
Book is in excellent condition with a tiny amount of wear showing at the unbumped lower corners and bottom spine, a minimal amount of white spattering on back lower cover doesn't show much. Otherwise Fine. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear only, with one small closed tear 1/3rd way up spine. Heavily illustrated. "George III was an ambitious patron of both the sciences and the arts. In this ground-breaking new survey David Watkin looks closely at the King's contribution to the area that interested him most deeply -- architectural design. George III's lifelong involvement in building and landscaping is placed in the context of his keen support for manufacturing, the scientific revolution and agricultural innovation, all of which were characteristic concerns of the Age of Improvement. Furthermore, taking into account the latest research into the role of the court in the political and cultural life of Europe before the French Revolution, Professor Watkin looks afresh at the significance of the King's position within the Holy Roman Empire."
