‎....Melchior Tavernier (Anvers, 1594 - Paris, 1665) est un graveur-libraire et cartographe français. Il eut pour apprenti Abraham Bosse, Les Francine, Francini, Franciny, Franchine, Francyne, Fransini, ou encore Fransiny sont des ingénieurs des eaux et des scénographes florentins. Frère de Thomas, oncle de François et de Pierre, parent du sculpteur Francesco di Bartolomeo Bordoni, Alexandre est né à Florence vers 1571, naturalisé français en 1603, mort en 1648, avait la charge de l'entretien des eaux et fontaines du château de Fontainebleau. L'art de Francine reste dans la tradition du Florentin Buontalenti, " ingeniere dei fiumi " du grand duc de Toscane, auteur des fabriques du célèbre jardin de Pratolino ; de celle de Frederico Zuccari, auteur du portail romain de la via Gregoriana en forme de bouche monstrueuse."..... Il est l'auteur de ce Livre d'architecture, publié en 1631 (puis réédité en 1640) par Melchior Tavernier, dont les planches sont gravées par Abraham Bosse. The front cover is missing the rear marbled cover is present but detached the leather spine is attached and has wear and some loss at both ends. The text block is holding but the whole should be rebound for its protection The pages are uncut untrimmed and some are rubbed and a little darkened at the overhanging edges. ‎Marcel Duchamp is considered the most influential artist of the 20th century. This reputation is due primarily to his introduction of the readymade, an alternative to the traditional art-making process wherein anything designated by an artist as a work of art?from a bicycle wheel mounted on a stool to a bottle rack purchased from a department store?automatically becomes art and should be treated as such. Whereas this radical notion has done much to alter the course of contemporary art, few realize that it can be traced to Duchamp?s involvement with his family, specifically, to objections expressed by his brothers to his Nude Descending a Staircase, a painting he submitted for display to the Salon des Ind pendants in 1912. Rather than accept the reservations voiced by his brothers and substitute this painting for another, Duchamp chose instead to withdraw it, whereupon he made the momentous decision that he would no longer conform to accepted conventions of taste. At the time, Duchamp?s eldest brother Jacques Villon was a cubist painter and printmaker, and his older brother Raymond Duchamp-Villon was a modernist sculptor. In this context, a readymade can be understood as an open challenge to the art his family practiced and represented, namely, the traditional genres of painting and sculpture.
