‎Summary What are the relationships between color techniques and art practices? Should we study the materiality of color in order to highlight its fundamental social dimension? Is an anthropological study of contemporary colorist art a way to understand the links between technics, aesthetics and society? These are some of the questions addressed in this book that aims to offer a journey through industrial color production, based on case studies of French contemporary colorist art works. In this monograph, Arnaud Dubois develops a new theoretical framework to study color: "color acts"; along with "agglutination processes" and "actions upon chromatic matter." To think about color as an act consists in observing colorization practices and describing the work situations where these acts are performed. To analyze color acts is to consider the means of action implemented by the multiple actors in the colorization of artefacts and identify the possible logics of chromatic actions. Through a historical and ethnographic work, the 17 color objects studied in this book deploy a large spectrum of color practices and usages that are instrumental for understanding the social construction of color in contemporary Western Europe. Quelles relations observe-t-on entre les techniques de production des couleurs et les pratiques artistiques modernes ? Entretiennent-elles des rapports de configuration r ciproque ? Doit-on consid rer la dimension mat rielle de la couleur pour illuminer son caract re proprement social ? Voici quelques questions qui sont d battues dans ce livre qui a pour ambition d'offrir un voyage au coeur de la production des couleurs du monde occidental contemporain travers l'exemple de la fabrication d'objets de l'art contemporain. Dans ce travail, Arnaud Dubois d ploie une nouvelle proposition analytique pour l' tude de la couleur en recourant la notion d'actes de couleur - avec celles de processus d'agglutination et d'actions sur la mati re chromatique - comme un nouvel outil th orique et m thodologique pour tudier les proc d s de coloration. Penser la couleur comme un acte consiste s'int resser aux pratiques de colorisation et d crire les situations de travail dans lesquelles sont effectu s ces actes de couleur. Analyser les actes de couleur c'est donc en premier lieu s'int resser aux moyens d'actions mis en oeuvre par des acteurs multiples dans la coloration d'artefacts et rep rer s'il existe des logiques d'actions chromatiques. ‎Summary This volume reflects on Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) and the international reception of his work 150 years after his death. Rossini was the most influential opera composer of the first half of the 19th century. His exceptional position in contemporary cultural life and the international success of his works meant that monuments were erected during his lifetime and biographies, novels and plays about him appeared. The volume explores his literary reception and the dissemination of his operas in the 19th and 20th centuries in various countries, focusing in particular on stylistic and compositional legacy, the theory and practice of operatic singing, treatises and biographical memoires, and Rossini's position in politics, society and public opinion. Translations and adaptations of Rossini's libretti are analyzed with regard to their functions within in the performances in different cultures and languages. Several chapters address the influence of Rossini and his music on other composers such as Giacomo Meyerbeer, Ottorino Respighi and Ferruccio Busoni. The fame that once surrounded Rossini, however, has been lost in the course of time, and many of his works fell into oblivion. The last section of the volume sheds new light on the so-called 'Rossini Renaissance', the revival of his works in the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st centuries.
