J. Cohen.<p>After serving in the Army Corps of Engineers in the mid-1940s where he worked as a draftsman for architect Lloyd Ruocco Forester began working as a freelance architectural designer in 1948. In 1950 he began studying architecture at the Chicago Institute of Design where he was mentored by Mies Van Der Rohe. He completed several modernist buildings in La Jolla Calif. before receiving his architectural license in 1960. Among his well- known designs are the Peterson/Russell Forester Residence in Point Loma 1965 the Urey Residence in La Jolla 1954 and the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant in San Diego 1951.
