The covers are soiled with a chip to the bottom corner of the front cover and top edges. There is a short tear along the spine and the booklet is vertically folded down the center. 21 & 1 pages with numerous textual illustrations and patterns. Very good.</p><p>"This is the first number of the New Edition of The Tailor Mechanic. The old edition was discontinued before this country entered the World War". Quoted from page 6. Numbered Volume 1 Number 1 on the title page.</p><p>Of particular interest is an article by Felix J. Koch on "Making Clothes for Jugo-Slovakian: Strange and Interesting Manners and Customs That Attach to the Fashioning of the Garments of the New Nation" illustrated with photographs presumably by Koch. Felix John Koch 1882-1933 was an author and freelance photographer. He traveled to the Balkan Peninsula in 1904. Koch traveled throughout the world from Labrador and Newfoundland to Panama and throughout Europe documenting in words and pictures the customs people and sights of the many regions through which he traveled. <p>New Orleans: Lengsfield Brothers circa Late 1920's -1930's. Late 1920's -1930's. Good. - A 19-3/4 inch high by 10-3/4 inch wide broadsheet printed on buff card stock advertising the firm's garment boxes. Text printed within an orange ruled frame at the at the top proclaims "An improved method of rendering real service to our Customers----So necessary to the logical progress of Modern Business. This new packing idea was first placed on the market July 1927 -- It has been accepted and adopted by the leading Clothiers of the Country -- Note the list of Leading Merchants now using the Perfect Garment Box who believe that it pays in dollars and cents -- and the most valuable of the Retailers Assets -- Good Will". Columns on either side list the numerous clothiers and businesses who use their product with the broadsheet's title printed at the center. Five illustrations from photographs depicting clothing being gently folded into the boxes are printed at the bottom within orange ruled frames. A cut-out folding insert centered near the top reproduces the coat hanger which holds the clothing within the firm's boxes. Folded twice horizontally to 7 inches high by 10-3/4 inches wide with promotional text printed within decorative orange rules on one panel and an illustration in shades of black gray & orange depicting a valet or butler holding a suit printed on the other panel boldly titled "Service!" next to 3 ruled address lines. The broadsheet was mailed to "The Clothing Trade Journal" with the periodical's address penned in with a correction and with a slit "New Orleans" postage seal along the bottom of the fold. The edges are darkened with a couple of tiny chips and a tiny tear to the right edge of the top fold. Bella cartolina illustrata a colori da Aleandro Terzi: una giovane dalla folta chioma bionda che indossa una blusa nero lucido di taglio vagamente marinaresco con ampio collo aperto profilato di bianco e gonna ampia, bianca; è seduta, appoggiata d'un braccio ad uno schienale, ed accarezza un cagnolino pezzato.
Cartolina postale (cm.9x14) viaggiata, datata Empoli, 29.6. 1918. La figura femminile fu fra i soggetti preferiti di A. Terzi (1870-1943): pittore, illustratore di libri per bambini (collaborò al "Corriere dei Piccoli") e per riviste (Tribuna Illustrata, La Lettura, Novissima), cartellonista pubblicitario, scenografo e costumista teatrale, decoratore in ceramica (Richard-Ginori); dal 1925 al '30 diresse l'Istituto del Libro di Urbino; fu anche direttore grafico dell'Enciclopedia Treccani.

London, J. Fuller, 34 Rathbone Place, 31 Juillet 1842. Incisione a colori (mm. 170 x 260 c.) tratta dal settimanale "Petit Courrier des Dames" (1821-1868; assorbito da "Le Journal des Demoiselles" nel 1869; ebbe un'edizione inglese dal 1823). Ritrae 2 coppie di bambini (2 maschi e 2 femmine) in un parco cittadino. I due più grandi sono già vestiti in foggia adulta, gli altri 2 si tengono la mano. Il maschietto, in soprabito ricamato con mantellina, tiene in mano un cerchio, tipico gioco dell'epoca.

Due graziose cartoline di bagnanti inizio secolo XX: una fra i flutti, dal costume a tutina bianco orlato di rosso con pantaloncino corto; in testa un fazzoletto verde annodato a cuffia (didascalia bilingue: "It's nice! L'eau est bonne!"). L'altra con costume azzurro in foggia di corta veste svasata a scollo marinaro, cintura in vita, pantaloncino corto sottostante, calze scure, scarpine e copricapo abbinati; regge un ampio telo a righe da spiaggia, inoltrandosi in acqua da una scala.
Due cartoline postali (cm. 9x14) viaggiate: l'una inglese (London, Inter-Art Co.- "Artistique" Series) siglata in basso a sinista: IW, e datata Napoli, 16.X.1923; l'altra datata Vicenza, 19.10.1917.

(MODA SEICENTO - CAPPELLI - INCISIONE).
Gentiluomo anonimo, effiggiato a mezzo busto, frontale, lo sguardo vòlto verso l'alto: il volto ornato da baffi e corta barba, i capelli lunghi alle spalle; indossa un cappello "alla moschettiera" ornato da piume, ed un farsetto abbottonato sul davanti.
Bella incisione in rame (cm. 165 x 230 all'impressione di lastra + margini), databile nel sec. XVII. Blande arrossature che interessano il lato inferiore sinistro, circoscritta macchia al margine bianco destro. Abbandonato il precedente rigido stile spagnoleggiante per un abbigliamento più comodo, la moda dei primi del '600 è influenzata da Francia e Fiandre: i capelli sono lunghi ed ancora al naturale, mentre i cappelli aumentano di dimensioni e si dotano di ampie falde.

<p>A small portfolio of women's fashion designs broken into four folders of loose plates 20 plates per folder for a total of 80 plates. This copy missing one plate from the second series 1905-1910. Beautifully hand colored pochoir plates illustrating the fashions of the time each card measuring 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches. The year shown at the bottom of each card. Each wrapper also illustrated with a color plate. Charming original folding case with patterned papers and silk ties. Hinge paper broken as usual but covers still holding case is slightly worn but all four paste on labels are present. Brown silk ties still there. All wrappers clean and unworn.</p> (Editions Nilsson)

1890 (Septembre à Décembre). In folio reliure demi-basane verte, dos lisse à triple filets et titres or, 36 planches lithographiées, nombreuses illustrations in-texte en noir. Belles planches lithographiées : les dessins de Gonin ont un côté gracieux qui ne se retrouve pas toujours dans les revues de cette époque. A noter : quelques publicités pleines pages dont une de Chéret pour le Purgatif Géraudel... Mode, couture et également crochet, tricot, broderie.

In-4 e in-folio, br., pp. 11, 12, 8, 8, 16. Tutti illustrati, con pubblicità tematiche. I fascicoli della seconda testata con copp. ed ill. a col., ma con strappetti marginali. Assai diversa l'impostazione grafica dell'ultima testata, edita in epoca fascista (al riguardo: articolo a firma Loris Ze: "Donne nello Stato Fascista"). Si allegano alcuni fogli sciolti, con esempi, e due cartamodelli manoscritti su velina.
