Dans "Le Cahier Des Salorges" N° 11, page 22-23 dans un article de 9 pages Signé Madame CHICHE-AUVIGNE traitant de "L'Hygiène a bord des navires Négriers au XVIIIème siècle", elle donne une histoire de quelques Chirurgiens Négriers dont Pierre François BRIEUGNE : ".Brieugne aussi était rempli de civisme. Ce Nantais mena une vie romanesque, pleine d'imprévus et de contrastes. En 1793, au retour d'un voyage de traite, où il navigait comme chirurgien sur un navire Négrier, il s'engagea avec enthousiasme parmi les volontaires Nantais pour la défense de la patrie. il avait alors 21 ans, Il nous a laissé une description pleine d'esprit de la route semée de fleurs, de festins et de bals, qu'ils parcoururent à pied vers Carcassonne, où ils devaient se mesurer aux espagnols. Fait prisonnier, il resta 25 mois en captivité en Espagne. Ce ne fut pas suffisant pour calmer ses ardeurs guerrières, et, à peine rentré à Nantes, il repartait sur un corsaire, faire la chasse à l'Anglais. De nouveau prisonnier, il passa un an sur un ponton. Rentré en France, il abandonna définitivement les armes et la Médecine pour se consacrer à l'enseignement. Curieuse destinée pour un ex-Chirurgien de Négrier. il fonda à Nantes une pension : la "PENSION BRIEUGNE" place Brancas (à l'angle de la Motte aux Cochons et de la petite rue Brancas) puis une école populaire dite "ECOLE INDUSTRIELLE" qui, bientôt, jouit d'un grand renom, le Prince d'Orleans lui attribua une médaille d'or ; il compta même d'illustres élèves : Lacaussade et, surtout, LECONTE DE LISLE.!!!."...... Ce manuscrit se trouvait dans une famille Nantaise depuis lors.........(voir aussi l'article de M. Creveuil, page 11 à 30 du tome N°80 année 1940 du Bulletin de la Société Archéologique et Historique de Nantes et de la Loire-Inférieure ou il est conté la vie de PIERRE-FRANCOIS BRIEUGNE Négrier, Soldat, Corsaire et enfin Maître de Pension à Nantes)...... A fine and legible manuscript instructional manual on techniques and problems of mine surveying. The text is divided into five chapters: "Von der Vorbereitung zum Markscheiden" "On preparations for measuring the area in which mining may be carried out" "Von Bennenung der G�nge und Kl�fte" "On the naming of seams and fissures" "Vom Observiren" "On Observations" "Vom Verma� oder Verbestimmung eines Grubenfelds" "On measuring and defining a mining claim" and "Von Wasserf�llen Wasserleitungen und Tiefbau" "On waterfalls water conduits and underground mining".
