Intrapreso agli inizi del Novecento, l'abbandono di un'idea di creatività rarefatta e aristocratica - che in Occidente pur sostenne la visione dell'originalità dell'opera d'arte, da Dante fino a Heidegger - trova negli ultimi decenni un inquietante parallelo nell'organizzazione del lavoro: proprio come il lavoro esonda nel non lavoro, così l'arte sconfina nella non-arte, ed entrambi sfociano in una piatta e deresponsabilizzata dimensione di creatività generica, totalitariamente e indiscriminatamente fungibile dal mercato e dal marketing. E giusto ribellarsi a questo omologante laissez-faire, al contempo sregolato e dispotico? Per rispondere consapevolmente in maniera affermativa, Gabriele Guercio traccia una genealogia e una storia degli aspetti dirimenti dell'arte novecentesca, facendosi in ciò guidare da Picasso. Se infatti l'inquilino di Boulevard Raspail 242 è indubbiamente il pioniere della sregolata disseminazione del fare creativo che ancor oggi connota la pratica artistica, la sua storia non è certo riducibile a questo pluralismo panico. Picasso ha attraversato l'anarchia e ha toccato l'altra riva della libertà, riconoscendo e problematizzando il volto nefasto e opprimente dell'indifferenza della produzione (ormai abitata da sostituibili e nomadi creativi). Fu cioè posseduto da un demone bifronte, che se da un lato alimentava il faustiano relativismo creativo, dall'altro lo spingeva a riconquistarsi un creazionismo artistico potenzialmente in grado di riscattare e il lavoro e l'arte. Tuttavia l'archetipo era gi� comparso un secolo prima su una diligenza a vapore e forse il suo ideatore avr� osservato che le diligenze a trazione animale erano per cos� dire a "trazione totale" con le quattro zampe dei cavalli sempre "in presa". I mezzi a trazione integrale per le loro caratteristiche meccaniche e la loro estetica attraggono naturalmente l'attenzione si imprimono nella nostra memoria e ci paiono molto diversi fra loro; tuttavia le differenze sono solo in apparenza perch� come tutto ci� che obbedisce a rigorose leggi fisiche nel nostro caso cinematiche il veicolo a trazione totale pu� essere facilmente classificato rendendo evidente la comune impostazione di mezzi estremamente diversi per aspetto e dimensioni. Il libro si pone l'obiettivo di classificare i veicoli a trazione integrale evidenziandone gli archetipi strutturali e raccontando la loro evoluzione attraverso i mutamenti storici e sociali del secolo scorso e le tendenze di quello appena iniziato. Pertanto il testo presenta gli schemi di trazione e i componenti che li rendono possibili aiutando la comprensione dei termini specifici che descrivono le linee di trasmissione.
