Original Llthograph in grey taupe and blue-green with lettering in black. A poster for the book by the Belgian Symbolist author Eugene Demolder and illustrated by Felicien Rops and E. Morannes.The image is of an angel with wings seated on a dragon's long neck. The angel holds a board and is writing with a quill pen. The dragon appears menacing with his mouth open. The litho is signed in the stone "SC" and "Mercure de France." Below the margin appears "Corbeil Imprimerie Ed. Crete." Rops has initialled the litho in the lower right corner and dated the piece "FR 96." The image size is 8-5/8" x 14" and the actual piece with margins is 141/4" x 18-1/4." The top right half of the outside margin is missing a piece about 4" long and 1" wide where the piece appears to have been matted previously. Two small closed tears - one in the actual image and one in the margin. Some pencil notations along bottom margin. Archivally matted.Original Lithograph. unknown books
