Bristol: Douglas Cleverdon 1930. Two wood engravings by Eric Gill. One of 300 copies signed by Powys this copy unnumbered. Pp. 20 4. Thin 8vo. 13 x 21.5 cms original brown cloth over green patterned paper boards titles in gilt to spine fore and lower edges uncut. A presentable copy slight darkening to endpapers and long edges of boards occasional rubbing to cloth.The two wood engraved vignettes by Gill are Physick numbers 385 & 386. Cleverdon writes that these blocks were originally engraved by Gill in 1926 for an edition of Disraeli but weren’t used. Cleverdon writes that these blocks were originally engraved by Gill in 1926 for an edition of Disraeli but weren’t used.
