‎No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 11 x 14"" 28 x 35 cm. title lobby card USA. May McAvoy Lois Wilson Elliott Dexter George Fawcett dir: William C. deMille; Paramount. Based on a Broadway play this film told the story of Mrs. Stanley who loses her clergyman husband. Mother of teenage twins she decides to change her lifestyle including her drab clothes takes a job as a librarian and even dances with an admirer at her childrens' high school dance. The conservative children eventually learn that their selfishness is standing in the way of their mother's happiness her being only 38-years-old. Undoubtedly a lost film. Interestingly school teacher-turned-actress Lois Wilson who played the role at the age of 29 was just 5-years-older than both stars May McAvoy and Robert Agnew who played the twins. In this highly romantic image from the Golden Age of silent cinema we have Lois Wilson with Elliott Dexter as the Professor. There is a lot of writing on back of card in pencil which does not show through and card is otherwise immaculate NEAR FINE. unknown books‎

A very unusual exterior display for the film during its first release in Spain during the Spring of 1961. In Spanish-speaking countries the film was titled Psicosis. Hitchcock was so popular in these countries by 1960 that his image would greatly enhance the selling of a film. The famous cut out of Hitchcock pointing to his watch was installed inside and outside all theatres showing the film indicating that no patrons would be allowed into the theatre once the film had started. Two different posters and five lobby cards for the film are displayed. The story of an apartment-bound man who takes an interest in the many neighbors living in the building behind him including the revelation of a murder. An interesting aspect which helped create the world in which James Stewart's character lived is that all of the sounds were ""live"" -- all dialogue the sounds of people autos and all music cues were sounds which were live within the story. ‎RETURN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES THE 1929‎

‎No binding. Very Good. Photo Vintage original 8 x 10"" 20 x 25 cm. black-and-white single weight glossy silver gelatin print still photo USA. Clive Brook H. Reeves-Smith Betty Lawford Charles Hay Phillips Holmes Donald Crisp dir: Basil Dean; Paramount. The very first Sherlock Holmes film to be produced with sound and in which the immortal line ""Elementary my dear Watson"" was uttered on-screen though it does not appear in the writings of Arthur Canon Doyle. Made at the Paramount Kaufman Astoria Studios in New York and employing actors of the theatre this early Holmes effort is an antique curiosity today full of gadgets and gizmos which have little to do with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The story also updated the setting to the present day. Clive Brook was known for his understated interpretation of the main character and he featured at right along with H. Reeves Smith as Dr. Watson and Betty Lawford as Marry Watson. Unfortunately the sound disks to this film are presently lost. Still 1221-36 includes the Paramount logo and title information along the bottom blank white margin. Actor's names written in pencil on verso. Right blank white margin edge a bit irregularly trimmed for publication NEAR FINE. unknown books‎

‎SCARLET EMPRESS THE 1934 Lobby card‎

‎No binding. Fine. Fine Art Print Vintage original 11 x 14"" 28 x 35 cm. lobby card USA. Marlene Dietrich Sam Jaffe John Loder C. Aubrey Smith Gavin Gordon dir: Josef von Sternberg; Paramount. One of the finest lobby cards for one of film history's most truly bizarre movies. Perhaps this was Sternberg's answer for Dietrich to her great competitor Greta Garbo's Queen Christina. While that film attempted to tell an accurate historical account of a historic queen this film was a major experiment in style. The basis was the story of Princess Sophia of Germany who is taken to Russia to marry half wit Grand Duke Peter played with aplomb insanity by Jaffe. The Princess is repulsed by him finds love with a Russian soldier and produces a son. No one asks questions and she moves on to become Catherine the Great. Much of the film was silent and drenched in Gothic sets set pieces and artifice shot through diffusions of all kinds and lit in expressionistic ways which have never been duplicated. It became an homage by Sternberg who was by now obsessed to Dietrich. Dietrich is swathed in a fur creation by Travis Banton. There are a few scattered pinholes to an otherwise perfect card with vibrant colors FINE. unknown books‎

‎TRUE TO THE NAVY 1930‎

‎No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 14 x 17"" 35 x 43 cm. jumbo lobby card USA. Clara Bow Frederic March Rex Bell dir: Frank Tuttle; Paramount. This is the story of a girl who works at a soda fountain in San Diego. She is the favorite of all sailors who come to port. Each one is her favorite as well as they come in at separate times. Problems arise whenever they arrive at the same time. However Ruby Nolan really pines mainly for the one gob who will not give her the time of day -- it is her mission to peak his interest. Film was made in both talkie and silent versions. Bow was known to audiences for her irresistible personality and for her red hair and this fantastic image highlights just that! It also shows her with her many boyfriends including Frederic March with his arms around her and soon-to-be husband Rex Bell at lower right. One of the highlights experienced in the sound version only was Bow's singing of ""Believe It or Not I Lost My Man"" -- that would be hard to believe. Both the silent and talking versions of this title are extant. This is a museum quality piece VERY GOOD. unknown books‎

‎Andy Gibb Color photograph; PPO #29‎

‎Archer Chicago: Paramount Pictures Corp. Exclusive License Bi-Rite Enterprises Inc 1977. Presumed First Edition First printing. Photograph. Fair. The format is approximately 8.5 inches by 9.75 inches. The image dimensions are approximately 8 inches by 9.25 inches. The image is a head and torso shot of a shirtless Andy Gibb . There is a tape repaired tear at the bottom right near the corner. There is a plastic hanging hook at the top center of the image. Andrew Roy Gibb 5 March 1958 – 10 March 1988 was an English singer and songwriter. He was the younger brother of Barry Robin and Maurice Gibb musicians who had formed the Bee Gees during the late-1950s. Andy Gibb was never a major member of the Bee Gees but had his own solo career as well as being a member of other groups over time. Gibb came to prominence in the late-1970s through the early-1980s with eight singles reaching the Top 20 of the US Hot 100 three of which went to No. 1: "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" 1977 "Love Is Thicker Than Water" 1977 and "Shadow Dancing" 1978. In the early 1980s he co-hosted the American music television series Solid Gold. He also performed in a production of The Pirates of Penzance and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Gibb would later have substance use problems and depression. He died on 10 March 1988 aged 30. Gibb dropped out of school at the age of 13 and with an acoustic guitar given to him by his older brother Barry he began playing at tourist clubs around Ibiza Spain when his parents moved there and later on the Isle of Man his brothers' birthplace where his parents were living at the time. Gibb was nominated for two Grammy Awards at the 20th Annual Grammy Awards.37 He was also nominated for two American Music Awards. The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s. The group sang recognizable three-part tight harmonies: Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the mid-to-late 1970s and 1980s. The group wrote all their own original material as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists and are regarded as one of the most important and influential acts in pop-music history. They have been referred to in the media as The Disco Kings Britain's First Family of Harmony and The Kings of Dance Music. Brother Andy Gibb contributed to the group and its success.
