Boards are bowed and lightly rubbed on the edges. Small red stain under portrait on front cover of vol. 2 which also has a small bookplate scuff inside. Top corners lightly bumped on vols. 4 and 12. A page in vol. 7's index of illustrations was opened roughly. In vol. 10 the top margins of pages 197-222 are dented. Cover of vol. 12 shows the faded outline of a bookend. Otherwise text clean and binding tight across the set. Very good condition on the whole. Each volume is illustrated with numerous tipped-in color plates.
