‎EDITION ORIGINALE (Cohen-Reynaud-492) de cette monumentale entreprise, une des plus belles bibles illustrées, la légende de chaque planche est en hébreu, anglais, allemand, latin, français et flamand ; elles sont toutes montées sur onglet, ce qui permet une manipulation aisée et une bonne vision des planches doubles. Petites galeries de vers aux marges extérieures sans aucune gravité ; le portrait rajouté et quatre planches ont, en fond de gorge, de petites déchirures anciennement restaurées ; quelques mouillures éparses. Certains bibliographes mentionnent l’existence probable de quatre cartes mais celles-ci manquent à l’exemplaire de l’Université d’Oklahoma qui a été numérisé et dont les planches sont recensées. Bon exemplaire dans l’ensemble de cette bible spectaculaire, solidement reliée.‎

Roussel , prêtre . Seconde édition ..." . Barbier ( " Dictionnaire des ouvrages anonymes .... ", Paris , Barrois l' aîné , 1824 , vol. 3 , p. 80 , n° 14807) , Ch. L. Richard ( " Bibliothèque sacrée ou Dictionnaire universel historique ... " , Paris , Chez Méquignon-Havard , 1827 , vol. 27 , p. 310 ) , Quérard ( " La France littéraire ou Dictionnaire bibliographique .... " , Paris , F. Didot , 1836 , T. 8 , p. 237 ) se trompent donc vraisemblablemnt en ne citant que le deuxième titre " Principes de religion ou Préservatif contre l' incrédulité " et en le datant de 1751 . Quérard mentionne aussi une édition de 1754 , mais tous ignorent la nôtre ainsi que celle de 1753 . D' après Quérard , l' abbé Claude ROUSSEL fut " curé de Saint-Germain de Châlons en Champagne , membre de l' Académie royale de Châlons ; né à Vitry-le-François le 1er juin 1720 " . Le fichier data de la BnF le signale décédé en 1775 avec un hypothétique point d' interrogation . Cependant , la Liste des comparants des trois ordres du bailliage de Châlons-sur-Marne ( Archives parlementaires de la Révolution française /année1879/6 / p. 548 , in Archives parlementaires de 1787 à 1860 . Spine rather rubbed and darkened and sometime furbished worn at ends and joints just starting to crack at head. The second edition of Fulke’s tendentious and influential comparison of the Douay-Rheims and Bishops’ translations of the New Testament with his notes and commentary intended to refute the arguments on which the former version was based. Fulke’s work with the two texts in parallel columns the Catholic in roman type and the Church of England version in italic sold better in England than the Douai Bible ever had bringing its language to a wider readership and becoming indirectly responsible for its influence on the coming King James version. The third Billemeyer edition the first being the very scarce 1787 printing. Despite a few flaws a handsome little book. A tight very good example some rubbing to the leather and creasing to the spine a crease to the front cover from an old internal repair; the front pastedown bears an apparently contempory pencil sketch of a tree or small bush and a tiny ink drawing of a little bird. ‎316 68; 111 1 blank ll.Two complementary works printed by Plantin: a Latin New Testament and an alphabetical list of Hebrew Greek and Latin names of biblical people and places appearing together in a lovely binding with beautifully decorated edges. The New Testament opens with Saint Jerome's preface and his short introductions also accompany the different books. The order of the ecclesiastical year with the different readings is included at the end. The present New Testament appeared in a series of parts of the Bible Voet 682 I-VI & VI bis all in a 16mo format. The second work "must be considered to be the last volume of this edition" Voet I p. 352.Rebacked with the remnants of the original spine laid down slightly damaged with faint water stain on front board not affecting the book block. Minor corrosion spots only on the inside of the front board and in the margins of the first few leaves not affecting the text some very slight very light foxing throughout. ‎Jolie édition de la traduction des évangiles de l'abbé Dassance. Elle est ornée de 23 planches de Tony Johannot, Cavelier, Gérard-Séguin et Brevière. Le titre-frontispice et le premier feuillet du Discours préliminaires ont été rehaussés de couleurs et dorés. Chaque évangiles possède sa page de titre et le texte se déploie dans des encadrements ornés d'anges et de motifs floraux. Elle comporte des notices historiques sur les quatre évangélistes et une partie consacrée à Jérusalem et ses lieux saints qui comprend 2 cartes dessinées et gravées par Warin et Flahaut, rehaussées en couleurs. Terminal flyleaf with elaborately penned inscription: "Isaac Sharpe flourishes dono Patris 1719." On the rear pastedown is Sharpe's early "Coll. Mag." bookplate dated April 4 1683 - possibly the date of his matriculation at Magdalene College Cambridge. The Greek N.T. starts at the beginning of the volume and the Hebrew O.T. at the end with the Greek Apocrypha of 128 pages between them. Each Testament has its own title page and the mention of the Apocrypha on both suggests that it was intended to form an appendix to either of the Testaments if they were issued separately. ‎<p>New York: Braziller 1967 Bound in quarter vellum over red cloth boards title in gilt on spine and a twenty-four page introductory text in gray wrappers. . Two volumes folio including a complete facsimile of the Lorsch Gospels from the Biblioteca Documentara Batthyaneum in Alba Julia Rumania and the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana in Rome. Both in fine condition in publisher's cloth slipcase. One of 1000 copies. Includes six color engravings from photographs by Robert Braunmüller and many color-printed plates though most of the production consists of high-quality monochrome plates. After centuries of separation the four parts which comprise the Lorsch Gospels were united in the Coronation Hall of the Holy Roman Empire in Aachen Germany on the occasion of the 1965 exhibition of the Council of Europe "Charlemagne: His Achievements and Influence." The respective owners cooperated to photograph the entire manuscript and the ivory covers during the exhibition. Thus a foundation was laid for the reconstruction of the manuscript in this fine facsimile edition which must serve in the place of a unified whole.</p> Braziller, hardcover‎
