Il exprime le voeu, dans le cas où serait fondé le bruit qui attribue au gouvernement l'intention d'occuper Constantine de gré ou de force de le comprendre au nombre des officiers d'État-major que vous auriez à proposer au Ministre pour faire partie de cette expédition.1 page format in-8°(23x18) sous couverture plastique. Très bon état.Aimable Jean Jacques Pélissier, duc de Malakoff est un militaire français devenu maréchal de France (1794-1864). Artilleur de formation, il sert ensuite dans l'état-major et remplit à de nombreuses reprises les fonctions d'aide de camp. Il se distingue ensuite pendant la conquête de l'Algérie et en ressort quinze ans plus tard avec le grade de général de division. Appelé en Crimée pour y prendre le commandement en chef des troupes françaises, il est fait maréchal de France après la chute de Sébastopol le 12 septembre 1855.

TEN Original photos inserted in text presumably these were originals from the magazine illustration. Paul Pelliot made an important three year journey through Central Asia Chinese Turkestan and Western China. Soon after his return he related details of his journey and that speech was printed in L'Illustration. Henry Getty translated that article and obtained original photos to insert. It seems like only a small number of copies could have been printed. Half leather over marbled boards marbled endpapers. Other than some browning around the very edges of the sheets this is in VG to vg condition and RARE. Privately printed hardcover
