Carl Maria Kaufmann, (1872 -1951), German clergy, archaeologist and writer. Kaufmann donated approximately 1,200 terracotta objects from Abu Mina and the Fayum to what is now the Liebieghaus. About 100 items from this donation were transferred in 1927 to the Museum für Byzantinische Kunst. His "Graeco-ägyptische Koroplastik" remains in many respects the standard work on the subject.
