Emanuel Bowen's 'Britannia Depicta or Ogilby Improv'd' first appeared in 1720 with Ogilby's strip-maps reduced to half the original scale. The work was immensely popular and was reissued many time as late as 1759. The road passes from Dartmouth through Newton Bushel Exeter Silverton Tiverton Bampton Berry and Embercum to Minehead. unknown
