He studied at the university in Liepzig; he became a preacher there in 1845, and later also preached at the Leopoldstadt and Seitenstetten synagogues in Vienna. He was a founder of the Kirchlicher Verein fuer alle Religionsbekenntnisse, an association that brought together the varying religions of Germany, and of the Beit ha-Midrash Academy, where Jewish scholars delivered lectures and which also published a periodical by the same name. More than 200 of Jellinek's sermons were published including in translation, and he also wrote books on topics such as apologetics, Kabbalah, and Talmudic language. "Rarissima e unica edizione", sconosciuta alle principali bibliografie. Elpidio Jenco (1892-1959), nacque a Capodrise, in Terra di Lavoro. Giovanissimo, si form nell'ambiente della rivista partenopea "La Diana", ove ebbe modo di conoscere alcuni fra i maggiori artisti e letterati del tempo. Fu in particolare gratificato da un rapporto di stima e di amicizia con G. Ungaretti - da lui considerato il vero caposcuola della nuova poesia - il cui stile senza dubbio lo influenz.La collaborazione con le riviste letterarie, iniziata con La Diana, prosegu poi per tutta la vita di Jenco che scrisse anche in Vela latina, Cronaca bizantina, L'Unione, Crociere Barbare, Realismo lirico e Circoli.Nel 1918, per conoscere lo scrittore Pea si rec a Viareggio, da dove per dovette ripartire ben presto, richiamato per il servizio militare. Frutto di questo primo soggiorno viareggino fu il saggio "La poesia di Enrico Pea" (Napoli 1918), pubblicato a cura di Crociere barbare.Nel 1921, grazie a una segnalazione di Pea, partecip al concorso per cinque cattedre di materie letterarie nel ginnasio G. Carducci di Viareggio da cui usc vincitore; nello stesso anno si trasfer definitivamente a Viareggio.Vinse premi letterari di rilievo, come il Giglio (1932), il Caselli (1934), il S. Pellegrino (1948) e il Chianciano (1955), tanto da diventare figura di primo piano nella vita culturale della sua citt d'adozione: fond la rivista letteraria "Il Sagittario" e fu presidente del Centro versiliese delle arti. Legato a L. Repaci, fu uno dei fondatori del premio Viareggio e, sino alla morte, fece parte della giuria. (Cos Diz. Biogr. Ital., vol. 62, pp. 201-202).Esemplare ben conservato.
