‎Lalla Rookh (persisch für `Tulpenwange`): 1817 erstveröffentlicht. Das Werk wurde inspiriert von der damals herrschenden Orient-Schwärmerei und entsprechend begeistert aufgenommen. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Zyklus (von Moore frei erfundener) orientalischer Märchen, die von einer Rahmenhandlung zusammengehalten werden. Das Werk wurde 1822 von Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué ins Deutsche übertragen und daraufhin auch im deutschsprachigen Raum zu einem großen Erfolg. - Der gest. ‎Thomas Moore (irisch Tomás Ua Mórdha), 1779 - 1852, irischer Dichter, Schriftsteller, Übersetzer und Balladen-Sänger. Er wird oft als irischer Nationaldichter bezeichnet, vor allem wegen den Irish Melodies, seinem berühmtesten Werkzyklus, der sich bis heute in Irland und England größter Beliebtheit erfreut und 1808 zu ersten mal veröffentlicht wurde. In Maclise fand Moore einen kongenialen Illustrator seiner Balladen. Meistereinband aus der Werkstatt Riviere (sign. am fl. Vorsatz " Bound By Riviere"). Die berühmte Buchbinderei im Londoner Westend zählte 100 Jahre zu den führenden Werkstätten und genoss auch international einen erstklassigen Ruf.
