Schilder, etser en fotograaf Jozef Van Ruyssevelt (1941- 1985) heeft in een korte tijdspanne een rijk en intens oeuvre tot stand gebracht, dat nog veel te weinig bekend is. Hij was een meester in het gebruik van kleur en clair-obscur, en zijn alledaagse omgeving vormde voor hem een niet-aflatende bron van inspiratie - meubels, gebruiksvoorwerpen, planten, muren, ramen, gebladerte, graspartijen, het omliggende platteland. ‎Pieter Bruegel de Oude (ca. 1525 - 1569) is vandaag vooral bekend om zijn voorstellingen van het boerenleven en wintertaferelen. Hiervan bezitten de Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van Belgie twee uitzonderlijke voorbeelden, het Winterlandschap met schaatsers en vogelknip (1565) en de Volkstelling te Bethlehem (1566). Het Winterlandschap met schaatsers en vogelknip is Bruegels meest gekopieerde werk; het werd nageschilderd door zijn zonen Pieter de Jonge en Jan de Oude en inspireerde kunstenaars tot aan het einde van 17de eeuw. Dit boek presenteert diepgaand onderzoek en nieuwe inzichten over de wintertaferelen van Pieter Bruegel de Oude, met focus op de panelen in de KMSKB. Innovatieve methodologieen en interdisciplinair onderzoek werpen nieuw licht op deze meesterwerken uit de Renaissance, in het bijzonder op de relatie van de schilder en zijn imaginaire werken tot de historische realiteit. Vermoedelijk leerde hij het orgelbouwersvak bij de Brusselse orgelmaker Johannes Stephanus Smets.[2]) Op twintigjarige leeftijd vestigde hij zich als zelfstandig orgelbouwer in Pamel-Ledeberg. Enkele jaren later richtte Anneessens een bedrijf op te Ninove. Anneessens huwde met Maria Theresia de Weys (1805-1877) en ging in Ninove wonen. Samen hadden ze vijf kinderen. Zijn zoon Charles Anneessens werd op 1 maart 1835 te Ninove geboren. Hij trad in het voetspoor van zijn vader en werd eveneens orgelbouwer. Na het overlijden van zijn vrouw in 1877 verloor Pieter-Hubertus zijn levensvreugd en zou hij vanaf 1880 alleen nog enig herstelwerk aan orgels verrichten.‎
