Darling" along with rubber-stamped "Byrd's South Pole Ship / A Century of Progress / 1933". The author lists Kessler as seaman and helmsman Innes-Taylor as dog-man and chief in handling and attending to the health and well-being of the sled dogs. Darling is described as a fireman and a hard worker and "The City of New York" was Byrd's flagship for the expedition. A great ASSOCIATION COPY given the personalization of the inscriptions seemingly presented to a fellow expedition member who almost certainly is Dr. Dana Coman medical director on the expedition as this title came with 2 other titles definitely from Coman's collection. The book is Very Good in the original green cloth stamped in gilt front board and spine with faint image of ship stamped front board and a penguin to spine illustrated with black and white photos. . A few marginal marks and notations in ink most notably at Coman's bio p. 229 where the notation reads "Oh ! that there were more poets in this funny old world".
