SET Of 2 MAP REPRINTS Of The ROUTE Of The OCEAN SHORE RAILROAD
San Francisco: Ocean Shore Railroad n. d. Original illustrations ca. 1900-1905. Reprinted on white printed paper. White paper printed with black ink. Creasing no hard creases just warped to paper light wear. A VG set of copies. Two sheets printed recto only. Two large map illustrations. 2 sizes. 14" x 8-1/2" & 17" x 11" <br/><br/>"The Ocean Shore Railroad was intended to be built from San Francisco to Santa Cruz California via a route along the Pacific coastline. Incorporated in May 1881 with construction beginning in 1905 at both ends but the line was never completed. The April 18 1906 earthquake caused major damage and delayed completion of the railroad. Trackage within the city of San Francisco was electrified while the rest of the line was operated with steam locomotives and later with self-propelled railcars. Despite significant passenger patronage especially on weekends the railroad never recovered from losses in the 1906 earthquake and failed to attract enough freight traffic to cover increasing deficits." Wikipedia. These reprinted map blueprints look to have been done before the 1906 earthquake. Ocean Shore Railroad unknown
