MID-19th-CENTURY FRENCH MANUSCRIPT INVENTORY DETAILING PERSONAL AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS INCLUDING BOOKS MAPS AND ENGRAVINGS SENT FROM FRANCE TO NEW YORK AND FROM THE UNITED STATES BACK TO FRANCE
France & the United States 1840. 26 leaves plus forty-eight blank leaves. Contemporary mottled calf spine gilt edges marbled. Slight wear to outer joints. Composed in a clear clean hand. Occasional minute soiling. In very good condition. A detailed manuscript inventory listing personal and household goods transported to the United States from France and separately items shipped from America back to France. The volume records the possessions of Eugène Mourgue his wife Colombe and their domestic servants beginning with the dozen trunks which they had shipped to the United States. The objects shipped for their travels includes cloth clothing porcelain china and silver. The manuscript also provides detailed lists of the objects the Mourgue household shipped back to France upon their return to the Continent. Of particular interest is a box of books with specific titles briefly noted. These include La Pérouse's VOYAGE in four volumes plus atlas; a multi-volume set of Duhamel du Monceau a twenty-volume set of Buffon; Abbé Raynal's ATLAS; numerous books for children; geographies dictionaries and other educational volumes; and numerous other works including Oliver Goldsmith's VICAIRE DE WAKEFIELD. Morgue also returned to France with numerous maps and prints including "Amerique septentionale" "Golphe du mexique" "La morte de Captain Cook" views of New York and Mount Vernon and portraits of Washington and Franklin. hardcover books

Stultz et Lou Gordon Vol transatlantique de 1928 Équipage du Friendship avec Amelia Earhart Pièce authentique, juin 1928 Collection Raffalovitch Feuillet autographié signé par Wilmer L. Stultz, pilote, et Louis E. Lou Gordon, mécanicien navigant, membres de l équipage du célèbre vol transatlantique du Friendship en juin 1928, auquel participait également Amelia Earhart. Bien qu elle ne tînt pas les commandes, elle devint ce jour-là la première femme à traverser l Atlantique en avion, en tant que passagère accompagnatrice, ce qui marqua le début de sa notoriété internationale. Le document est rédigé sur un feuillet bleu replié, collé sur un bristol fin. Il comporte une annotation manuscrite en bas à gauche, rédigée en français : « Juin 1928 Signatures de Stultz et Gordon, pilote et mécanicien de l appareil Friendship, du Miss Earhart, ayant traversé l Atlantique. » Bien que cohérente avec le contenu, cette annotation ne semble pas contemporaine du vol, et doit être considérée comme postérieure, probablement ajoutée à des fins de classement ou de présentation. Le verso du feuillet porte le cachet imprimé de l Union Interalliée, prestigieux cercle diplomatique et mondain situé 33, faubourg Saint-Honoré à Paris. Ce détail suggère que les signatures ont été recueillies à l occasion d une réception officielle ou commémorative organisée peu après l arrivée de l équipage en Europe. Taille du carton 16 x 11 cm. Provenance : Ce document provient de la remarquable collection de G.D. Raffalovitch, journaliste et historien de l aviation. Ses archives, dispersées lors de la vente aux enchères du 26 juin 1968 à Nice, rassemblaient plusieurs centaines de documents originaux liés à l histoire de l aviation mondiale, dont de nombreux autographes, photographies, plans techniques, cartes postales et objets commémoratifs.
