"The history of Europe and the history of the Ottomans are two parallel histories; for this reason, the history of the two worlds should be studied comparatively.". (Halil Inalcik). From the middle of the fifteenth century on, the Ottoman Empire played a crucial role in shaping European history. This factor has not been weaved into Western historiography to its detriment, because explaining concepts such as raison d'etat, realpolitik, balance of power or even European identity remain somewhat short changed without the role of the Ottoman Empire in the evolution as well as functioning of these concepts. The Ottoman Empire is generally depicted and perceived as the adversary and antithesis of Europe and Europeanness in Western historiography because of certain historic reasons such as the Christian crusading tradition, public hostility due to long lasting warfare, cultural estrangement and perhaps because the Ottomans remained outside the Enlightenment process. However, there is much more to it than struggle. Our research findings presented in this compilation point to the impact of the Ottoman Empire in shaping modern Europe, specifically as of the sixteenth century and socio-cultural exchanges between the two realms through five hundred years of encounter.

Original manuscript autograph letter signed 'Sadrazam Rifat' sent to Toph�ne-i �mire m�siri Mustafa Zeki Pasa i.e. Grand master of Turkish artillery. 38x24 cm. In Ottoman script. Folded. 1 p. It's an official celebration for Mustafa Zeki Pasha's achievements in the Turco-Greco War in 1897-1898. It's written in a beautiful riq'a script. Halil Rifat Pasha was an Ottoman statesman and a Grand Vizier for six years between 1895 until his death in 1901 during the reign of Abdul Hamid II. He was born in Serres Serez and received education in an Islamic type parish school in Salonica Selanik then continued to Mekteb-i M�lkiye in Constantinople. After his education years he started to work as a mailing clerk in Vidin then worked as secretary in the office of the Governor of Salonica. He advanced by degrees and was appointed to higher official positions by passage of time including at Rustchuk. In 1882 he was appointed as mutasarrif of Vidin then in 1886 he was appointed as governor of Sivas where he started a road-building programme. He was subsequently appointed governor of Aidin 1889 and later of Monastir where he fought brigandage units which was rife in the province. He was appointed as minister of internal affairs in 1893 . Then he was appointed as grand vizier in November 1895 . The most important events in his era as grand vizier were the riots of Sason in 1895 and in Crete in 1897 as well as the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 which ended with Ottoman victory. His motto in the road building campaign was "Any place where you can't go is not yours"! Gidemedigin yer senin degildir!. Zeki Pasha was one of the most trusted Ottoman generals and statesmen of the Sultan Abdulhamid II. He served as Tophane Counselor for 18 years during the reign of Sultan Abd�lhamid II. In 1899 Italian architect Alexandre Vallaury built the 'Tophane M�siri Zeki Pasa Mansion Yali' one of the most valuable estates of Istanbul on his behalf. In 1908 he fell out of favor with the declaration of the Second Constitutional Monarchy by Union and Progress Society Ittihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti and was deported first to B�y�kada and then to Rhodes. From the middle of the nineteenth century, Ottoman scholars played a crucial role in educating society and shaping Muslim identity at the tip of Southern Africa. Scholars such as Abu Bakr Effendi, Mahmud Fakih Emin Effendi and Ottoman Consul-Generals Ohannes Majakyan Effendi, Mehmet Remzi Bey strengthened the relationship between the Ottoman Empire and South Africa, as far as Mauritius Island. The Noor'ul Osmaniya Mosque, Ottoman Cricket Club, Noor'ul Hamidiyya Mosque in Cape Town and many Ottoman graves in South Africa are evidence of the Ottoman presence and traces in the region. Ottoman emissaries and Muslim theologians left a siginficant cultural legacy in Southern Africa. This cultural and Islamic legacy has yet to be woven into South African historiography. This study seeks to contribute the field in the light of archival sources from the Ottoman State Archives and National Archives of South Africa.

Son zamanlarda çok sayida kentin yöneticisi bazi kanitlar ileri sürerek büyük sairle bütünlesmek istemis, Yunus Emre'nin mezarinin kendi kentlerinde bulundugunu savunmuslardir. Yunus Emre'nin mezarinin bulundugu var sayilan yerlerden biri de XV. ve XVI. yüzyillarda "Sivrihisar Nahiyesi" sinirlari içinde bulunun "Sari Köy" dür. Very Good Turkish Paperback. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In Turkish. 240, [12] p. Halid Ziya was born in Izmir, Tire. He went to Istanbul and continued to Hendese-i Mülkiye and Engineer Mekteb-i Âlîsi for seven years. After starting with "Aydin Province Umur-i Nafia Third Class Engineering", Halid Ziya Bey, who continued to work as a deputy chief engineer on 14 March 1910, left Aydin and returned to Istanbul after continuing this duty for about six and a half months. As a teacher, he taught Accounting, Algebra, Geometry, and Topography at Halkali Ziraat Mekteb-i Âlîsi and Darussafaka. Halid Ziya Bey, who was appointed as a teacher of Hendese and Cosmography in Kabatas High School, started to practice the profession of engineering and cadastral, which was his main specialty in 1327. After the First World War, the Istanbul Government started its activities in order to capture and neutralize Halid Ziya Bey and his friends. Upon the harsh measures taken, Halid Ziya Bey had to live as a fugitive in the Hasirci Mountains of Eskisehir for a while with the armed force attached to him. Halid Ziya Bey, who was involved in the movement in Anatolia until the end of the National Liberation Struggle, returned to his engineering duty after the proclamation of the Republic and was included in the cadastral works again. In 1925, Halid Ziya Bey was appointed as the Head of the Science Committee of the new cadastre organization. He wrote 5 books on cadastre, photogrammetry, trigonometry, and cadastral tools in 1928 and 1929. In addition, as a result of personal work in 1928, the road between the provincial division of the Republic of Turkey with cities has prepared a comprehensive map to show up in the forest and mining.
