This unpublished poem by Kemal Edib is titled 'Su-yi tarih'. Dated only 1361 AH. Signed as 'Bende-i Mevlânâ Kemal Edib' [i.e. Slave to Mawlana Kemal Edib]. Mevlana is a title given to people who are seen as leaders in the religion of Islam or who are successful in Islamic sciences. Although it is frequently used by Islamic scholars and religious leaders especially in the Indian Subcontinent, it is not used much in West Asia. It is often used in Turkish and Persian literature to refer to Jalaluddin Rûmî and is therefore mistakenly understood as part of that person's name or as his own specific nickname or title. Derived from the word Mawla, this word means "our master". Although the Swahili language in Africa, like other languages, derives the word from its origin in Arabic, it uses it in a much more general sense: the word is generally given to people respected by their community and does not have to bear religious emphasis, it can be used in a secular context. In this signature, the poet might this title to refer to Rumi. Kemal Edip Kürkçüoglu, (1902-1977), who had taught history, literature, and Islamic mysticism in high schools and faculties and done administrative services, was a poet and scholar whose fifteen books about religion, history, and literature had been published. Elites and religion from Ottoman Empire to Turkish Republic.

"Professor Karpat, one of the most prominent names in the field of Political History, explores the social structure of Ottoman Empire through different eras and looks at Turkey's multi-party democracy culture from a historical perspective. His articles interpret the Ottoman history for broader audience and lay a vivid picture of events of recent history in front of our eyes. Professor Karpat's remarkable articles take us back to 18th century Ottoman days and examine change and modernization on those days, his work also looks into the independence and interaction of various social groups within a muslim state. The Ottoman social structure produced a unique way of practicing "secularism" where spiritual issues regarding faith and administrative issues regarding everyday state politics were kept completely independent from each other; one was dealing with earthly matters of day to day life of subjects of the Ottoman sultan, the other was to aid the followers of specific faith in their practice of religion and to prepare for after-life. Ottomans, despite having a highly complex social structure accommodating a number of ethnic groups and various religious orders, had successfully sustained freedom of faith by adopting the 'millet' system. Every non-muslim community represented by its leader was regarded as a 'millet' and enjoyed an absolute autonomy and freedom within its own faith and community in terms of practice of religion, language, social relations. During the Tanzimat era a new generation of religious leaders; who were relatively free from state regulations emerged among Ulema and unlike their predecessors they were not dignitaries. The social status of this newly emerging group from within well- established Ulema which was preoccupied at times to legitimise social and political change from an Islamic perspective or at other times tried to maintain status-quo siding with government, overlapped with the social image of the Ottoman middle-class. The fact that the new generation Ulema had common characteristics with ordinary middle-class people had a profound impact on Ottoman-Turkish political history. Consequently, the road map of 'modernity and secularism' set in Republican Turkey was identified by both the state represented by military and civilian bureaucrats and by people represented by local notables.".

Pubblicato nel 1949, "La casa di mio padre" è il primo romanzo di Orhan Kemal, un libro ricco di elementi autobiografici vivificati da una vocazione narrativa che trascolora in una luce di ottimismo gli elementi più tragici e duri dell'esistenza. Kemal ripercorre in prima persona l'infanzia e l'adolescenza di un "signor nessuno" che l'autore immagina di aver incontrato per caso in un caffè. Figlio di un funzionario statale politicamente impegnato, nel corso del romanzo il protagonista passa da un'infanzia relativamente agiata nella Turchia sconvolta dalle turbolenze politiche legate alla fine dell'Impero ottomano a un'adolescenza segnata dalla miseria più nera durante l'esilio della famiglia in Libano. Al centro della vicenda campeggia il conflitto del figlio con un padre dal carattere complesso, una figura tratteggiata dall'autore con l'abilità e l'estro di un pittore amante dei colori forti e del chiaroscuro. Nella girandola di situazioni difficili, tragiche e talvolta comiche in cui viene coinvolto suo malgrado, il giovane eroe non perde mai l'entusiasmo per la vita e la speranza in un futuro migliore, dimostrando sempre un profondo sentimento di solidarietà per gli altri uomini, indipendentemente dall'estrazione sociale o dalla cultura di appartenenza.

Very Good Turkish Original report with autograph signatures and notes. 1 p. 23 x 17 cm. In Turkish. It's a 'play report' of Ulvi Uraz Theater in Üsküdar, Baglarbasi district in Istanbul. Dated 8/7/1970. Written play's name: Murtaza. As stage manager (rejisör) signed by Ulvi Ural (owner of theater house) and as stage administrator signed by famous Turkish actor Kemal Sunal, (1944-2000). He was a Turkish actor. With Hababam Sinifi, Kapicilar Krali and Davaro, Sunal gained large popularity amongst Turkish cinema goers and was famed for his character "Saban", a role he frequently played. His characters in films often reflected the problems common Turkish people faced in their country. Scarce.

The work of the Ottoman privateers who then held sway over most of the Mediterranean, these charts cover a geographical area far beyond the bounds of the Ottoman Empire. as rulers of an expanding empire, the Ottoman sultans took a close interest in mapmaking and may well have commissioned their sea captains to draw the charts. When Piri Reis presented his first world map to Sultan Selim I, conqueror of Egypt, in 1517, the sultan is said to have declared, "How small is the world for a conqueror.".

Although it originated in Ethiopia and was later introduced to Yemen in the Arabian peninsula, neither of these countries supply the world with coffee today. Both places are remembered only in accounts of coffee's history, which is interwoven with legend. For a long time the world coffee trade has been in the hands of international trading companies that purchase the raw or roasted beans from distant countries. Although tea has brought about a decrease in coffee drinking in Turkey, in recent years the arrival of international coffee brands and coffee house chains has sparked off a slow revival.
