Vojan Napsal Jar E. S
Velky New York New York City Map included
New York 1908. This is a book about the history of New York and the Czechs in New york written by the author Vojan who came to america in 1904 with a PHD from Charles University in Prague. He worked for various Czech newspapers and wrote this book about New York and its Czech community. It is written in Czech but there are 100 illustrations and an oversized pull out map of new york city. Many of the The illutstrations are by Underwood and are not the usual pictures - example - there is a construction picture of the Flatiron Building being built. You can make out the title of all the pictures since they utilize the English titles as much as possible. The map is fascinating albeit in very fragile condition and is torn in places - but is still wonderful to look at. The book itself is worn but in good condition with a decorative cover. Priced accordingly. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Hardcover
