1887. Very Good . 1 printed commission form naming Joseph H. LeFevre a notary public dated 30 March 1887 and signed by Gov. James A. Beaver and Charles W. Stone Secretary of Pennsylvania. the form is filled in in an attractive hand with a large gilt seal of Pennsylvania. Attached is a small form indicating that it was recorded in Adams Co. on 1 April 1887 with a smaller gilt seal of the Adams Co. Recorder's Office and the signature of the county recorder I. S. Stonesifer. Israel S. Stonesifer 1839-1928 served in the 165th Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. In addition to serving as county recorder he was assistant superintendent of Gettysburg National Military Park. James A. Beaver 1837-1914 served during the Civil War as lt. col. of the 45th Pa. volunteers and then as colonel of the 148th Pa. volunteers being wounded several times and eventually losing a leg. He served as governor of Pennsylvania from 1887 to 1891 and from 1895 to his death in 1914 sat on the state Superior Court. Charles W. Stone 1843-1912 was in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives 1870-1871; in the Pennsylvania State Senate 1877-1878; Lieut. Gov. 1879-1883; and was secretary of Pennsylvania 1887-1890 when he was elected to represent the state in the U.S. House of Representatives. 1906. Near Fine -. 1 printed and handwritten deed 36 x 22 cm. folded. The form is identified as Deed No. 1 from the Legal Blank Pub. Co. Lansdale Pa. On 2 April 1906 Willoughby Brey of Tylersport Montgomery County Pa. and Sarah his wife sold to Jacob B. Kline of the same place for $1046.34 a house and three tracts of land in Salford Township Montgomery Co. on the Philadelphia Road. Subject to the widow's dower of $953.66 meaning that interest of 3% on $953.66 was payable annually to Mary Muehlhauser d. 1915 widow of Charles Muehlhauser for life and the principal due to the heirs of Charles Muehlhauser after her death. Signed by Willoughby Brey and Sarah Brey by her mark only indicating that she was illiterate; the witnesses Anna H. Reiff and Justice of the Peace Allen G. Reiff; and the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds William J. Wells with his embossed seal. Charles Muehlhauser died intestate on Dec. 24 1874 leaving his widow Mary Muehlhauser and seven children. Deed for Sale of Lot in McConnellsburg Pa. where School Burned Down
1923. Near Fine. 1 printed and typewritten deed 36 x 22 cm. 4 pages folded. Printed by Henry Hall Printing Indiana Pa. On 31 Jan. 1923 the School District of McConnellsburg Pa. sold to the Hon. S. W. Kirk of McConnellsburg for $1510 2 lots in McConnellsburg on the west side of Second St. #54 and #55 in the general plan of the borough. The lots were acquired by the school district in 1881 from F. B. Sipes and used by the school district until the building was destroyed by a fire in March 1922. Signed by school district vice president Thomas F. Sloan secretary Charles B. Stevens and Fulton County Recorder of Deeds B. Frank Henry with his embossed stamp and paper gold embossed seal. The school building that had been destroyed by fire was a brick 2-story building with four class rooms and an auditorium. A larger building was erected to replace it on another lot. This was at the suit of the Society against Cecile M. Rose Henri Santerre and Mrs. J. Fahy. Signed by Sheriff E. Albert Boyer witness A. Thurman Schlabach and Northampton County Recorder Clement S. Frederick. With the embossed stamp of the Northampton County Recorder. The Society of the United Brethren for Propagating the Gospel Among the Heathen is consistently misspelled here "Propogating."
